The only way to move up at my job is to kiss ass

And I refuse to kiss ass to get ahead. I'm a college graduate with about 8 years experience in customer service. I am 30 years old. I work for a Waxing center that gives off the impression it is a “non toxic, team environment that empowers women” and it's a lie. I have been there 5 months and make most of the sales for the Guest Service Associates. I asked about a promotion and they told me to get my sales up so I did. But it's been crickets. The assistant manager is 20 years old. She got promoted to Lead GSA in four months. Fast forward 5 months after that and she is promoted to assistant manager. She's young, immature and frankly a snake. But she kisses the managers ass so hard. She lives with her mom and dad. She doesn't need to be paid what she's paid. Meanwhile…

Texas Employer zeroed out my last paycheck

Hi, I wanted to know if anyone had experience with this or any advice. This is the first I've had this happen. Bottom line: I lost my job employer sent a $0.00 financial statement. (I've never seen this kind of statement and I had accounting classes in college) emailed them asking for pay stubs (so I could cross check this financial sheet) I've been ignored for 2 weeks I called several numbers from Texas Workforce Commission to US Department Labor and finally Department Wage and Hour Division and left a voicemail to my states regional office. My question is that on the TWC site it says to email the employer to “remind them” of the Texas Payday Law before submitting a claim. When I send this email to HR should I CC others in the company? It's a small business, the HR lady clearly likes ignoring…

Non-solicitation for company

I have a question about non-solicitation agreements. I quit my job abruptly yesterday, due to being overwhelmed with school. I work in the finance sector and have been part-time for under a year. I have to come in and fill out some privacy and confidential documents. I was wondering if they present a non-solicitation agreement, am I required to sign off on it? Or can I refuse. Thank you in advance!

I need help negotiating for my working benefits back.

Hello everyone at r/antiwork, Due to our previous boss deciding to retire, our firm got bought by another firm. I recently had to interview for the same job position and thankfully I received a job offer letter from them. However, I see many problems with it. There is no mention of benefits anywhere, per my manager we will be receiving a PTO decrease of 40 hours, and our commission structure in the agreement is “addendum to follow”. What do y'all recommend I follow this offer letter with? For those curious my hourly salary is the same, but with the PTO decrease and their vagueness I'm starting to worry. Thank you all.

Useful, adventurous or new things to do after being let go from a job?

Was recently let go from a position and I was actually so relieved cause I felt like my time at that place had ran its course and I was beginning to feel burnt out anyway. But with that, I recently found myself with quite a bit of downtime, as you can imagine. I try to keep a busy mind; I finally have time to focus on other areas of my life like cleaning and reorganizing my home, finally being able to focus on getting this garden going and getting myself into therapy. But I’ve also always dreamt of hopping in my car and just… driving. Bringing nothing but a few pairs of clothes, my Bluetooth speaker, some pots and pans to cook with and my sketchbook and just camping out in nature wherever the road may take me. …With gas prices nearing $7 in California, that dream may be put…

What should I put in the suggestion box?

So my company just put out anonymous suggestion boxes. They have been long aware of the problem of employee dissatisfaction and I guess enough of us have left that they are putting in some effort and taking the “traditional” approach to the problem; patronizing pizza parties, tiny overdue and hardly helpful “cost of living” raises, and now this. I want to do some good, even though I know they probably wont read anything they don't want to read, I want to make the hard hitting suggestions anyway. I wont go into detail about what we do, but it is very detail/quality oriented, over worked and over stressed staff have made mistakes that could have been avoided if we were less overworked. I want to suggest a 32 hour work week (8 hour shifts, mon-thu) with pay scaled to match our current pay. I know this would benefit by making us…

Is it really that bad out there?

US here. I have a decent job. Not pulling in 6 fixtures, but we do well. Have cars, a nice house, and have spending money. Sure, we couldn’t come up with 20K overnight but we are not necessarily living paycheck to paycheck. Is it really that bad out there? I read these posts daily and it just seems like it’s hopeless out there. Are people posting to be dramatic or is the current landscape such that it’s better to simply give up than to work in what sounds like an endless loop of misery daily? Am I just that lucky?
