Paying Union dues but not covered by the union

Like the title says I started a new job with a new company that has a union. We're all paying into the union yet we aren't covered by the union until our probation period is over, Is this legal? Is there anything we can do?

Time for court A**Holes

My company refuses to pay overtime no matter how justified it is. They’ve now threatened with retaliation stating that it’s on record that I’ve labeled unjustified overtime. Which is total bs simply because they want to keep it at 8 hours despite the fact that we have long commutes from work areas back to our hotel for operations and days that can go up to 10 hours. I sent my manager the law regarding paid travel time and she was not having it. I have screenshots, texts, voice recordings, and more justification that i worked overtime. They’ve manipulated and bullied me into changing my time sheets to reflect only eight hours. And now most recently threatened me by saying that my standing in the company has deteriorated. Well that’s retaliation against the FLSA. So time to bring it to them

Why are boomer parents like this?

I just called in for the night. I work the night shift and had a horrible time last night. We were terribly understaffed due to a snowstorm yet the workplace ran full blast anyway. I got yelled at on probably about eight separate occasions for basically not being in two places at once. I almost quit, just walked out, last night. So tonight I called in sick. Well, my father is all angry and disappointed. He wanted me to get the overtime I would be on for the night. Yet when he worked, he only went in about two or three days out of a five day workweek because he had FMLA for years on end due to my bipolar mother. And when he went in, he was drunk about 90% of the time, and was suspended for months on end on several occasions for fighting back against people messing…

As long as credit and buy now pay later exists, poor people will not organize or revolt

Even if someone makes 15 K a year, they can still have a brand new iPhone and a brand new car because of credit. People can still live very comfortably on a low income or a terrible job because of credit and buy now pay later. People are not uncomfortable enough to actually organize and revolt.

Wanting a living wage is not a matter of instant gratification. It is a human right

When I was a youngster about to enter the workforce, I had hard work and no instant gratification drilled into my head. The older I get and the more experience I get in the working world, the more I realize that all that instant gratification talk was bull. I don't want to be mega rich and I'm never going to be mega rich. I'm not some entitled person wanting to make 6 digits with ease. All I want is a full-time job that actually pays me enough where I don't feel I have to scramble in panic for next months rent. I shouldn't have to get a master's degree to get money so I can have enough to have food and replace worn out shoes. I shouldn't have to have 50 million qualifications and 15 years experience just so that I can pay my utilities every month. I shouldn't need…
