We recently got new management, I’ve been with this company for 3 years next week. I have never been in any sort of trouble until last month. Since then I’ve been written up three times over nothing. One thing that really got me, is last Friday I was written up for it, and during our meeting, my boss told me that she doesn’t hold any of the department heads to a strict start time because we have to adjust our hours to meet needs. I've seen a lot of comments revolve around the use of (or threat of) force to break up strikes by the police or whomever, and I've always wondered if there was a benefit to the workers physically gathering in protest that outweighs the threat of violence against them? I know that picketing and protesting sends a message to the employer and other companies, I'm not suggesting there aren't any benefits, but doesn't the power we hold come from stopping the means of production? In a completely hypothetical example, say we managed to secure solidarity across the working class to all strike at once… what if, instead of gathering to protest, everyone just stayed home? There wouldn't be riot police showing up to mass protests to arrest and beat the hell out of people to strongarm/scare everyone back to work, so what real consequences are there that don't already exist with…
NEW: The workers who make Amy’s burritos are forced to work over 8hrs a day, 6 days a week, and wrap 10+ burritos a minute. They say that rapid speeds and company neglect have led to repetitive stress injuries and chronic pain. They’re unionizing with @Teamsters to change that. pic.twitter.com/SXV67zfLHd— More Perfect Union (@MorePerfectUS) February 25, 2022
