Can I start by saying I am in no way trying to boast that I'm doing well now. I don't see what that could achieve given it's anonymous, so I'm not using this to show off. I used to work for a large bank but I had an unimportant low paid job there. My team leader, a woman in her 40s (I was in my 20s) just seemed to pick on me and I honestly think she felt there was some competitive edge because we both used to go to the same gym at the same time before work. We once had a department charity thing where we would collectively have to cycle a certain distance on an exercise bike. Everyone did a 30 minute shift but it became a friendly unofficial competition to see who could cover the most distance in that 30 minutes. I took my turn immediately…
I see a lot of posts about people going to HR. HR is not your ally! They are there to protect the company from lawsuits and will probably not help your situation at all, unless it’s also in the company’s interest.
I’m 21 f, I have no idea how to process what happened, I’m only helping these people out for there last month, and I swap Snapchat with this guy who established himself as a safe person on my first couple of days. Then he starts pestering me for sex, I said no four times, every time I reject his other he makes some disparaging remark about my skin tone (I’m mixed). I called the owner of the business, they originally sounded upset but decided that because I was friendly with him, and uncomfortably giggled when made daily comments about my bust. This guy has already gone to court for sexually harassing a minor. I have given them my best, I feel so stupid, I tried to do the right thing and Handle it maturely, I’m beyond sad and I genuinely don’t wanna work again.
Whelp. Just saw this at the drive-thru.
It has turned into a “complaining about your job” subreddit. Those complaints should move to a working conditions, living wage, etc kind of subreddit, and do not belong to a place that was originally intended to fight the notion that jobs are needed to survive. I'd like more forward thinking, utopian kind of content.
