A “burn book” at your job every time someone messes up

Just had a random memory from a ridiculous job I had for an entire 3 days at an acupuncture clinic about 10 years ago. When someone made a mistake, any mistake, they had to write it in a journal. I thought it was the dumbest thing. The owner also had a video camera watching the receptionist (me) and he told me to smile more often. They fired me after 3 days because I needed to leave early to go do my community service which they already knew I was doing and the reason why. They put me alone the 2nd day I was working there and I had to check in people, schedule them when their session was done, restock the acupuncture room (it was huge and multiple people got their sessions at the same time), answer phones, and get people their herb prescriptions. Nobody was in the waiting room…

They fired me. So I quit. Kinda….

Long story short, I was growing rather agitated from the gaslighting and humiliation I faced on an increasingly frequent basis. So naturally, I decided to draft a resignation notice and carry it around in my backpack in case they decided to pull something. At this point, I didn't care about any of the bureaucratic repercussions of quitting vs getting fired. It was about self-respect and salvaging what's left of my sanity. well. I was handed my “notice of separation” an hour after I printed the damn thing. I'm not encouraging anyone else to do this as my situation is unique to me, but I'd still like to share a rough draft of what In threw in my boss's face. keep in mind, by that point, all of the paperwork pertaining to my termination has already been processed. Technically, I was fired before I even entered the building. (Let me know…

Bogus Bonus

So when I started working for this company I was promised in writing a $3000 bonus in $1000 dollar increments every 6 weeks, it is now the 8th week of the 2nd increment and I still havnt recieved my 2nd bonus, when I asked the manager she said it could be because I took a leave of absence cuz I have covid, however some of my fellow employees who also took LOA’s received their bonuses on time. I feel like ive been cheated, can I take legal action against them? (This is in the state of Illinois)

How to conceal phone at work?

I usually have my phone on my desk so I can see notifications, and right now, I am surrounded by empty seats on my row in an open-office hellish environment, so can at least use/touch it somewhat freely. However, from tomorrow, my department is being moved to another floor where desks are narrower, and there are people in front, behind, and to the sides of you. My question: is there a sneaky way I can get the phone off my desk and into my hand/pocket/something so when I steal away for a coffee break or whatever, I can get some sanity, without being noticed and snitched on? Or should I just give up and keep it in my pocket?

Work fron home for less

I'm a teacher at an international school in Asia. Schools are currently closed and teachers are teaching from home. The school has just informed me that until they reopen we'll only get about 70% of our salary. So until further notice I'll only be working about 70% of the time and I now effectively have a 3 day weekend. I won't be telling anyone and my direct supervisor will not care or notice because she's pissed too.

Well guys I did it, now what?

What do you do with lots of downtime at work when you have to be on premises? I got into a new field after leaving one that is notorious for employees being underpaid, over worked, having 0 breaks and insane staffing shortages. My new job is in a covid lab and now since things have slowed I have 4-5 hours a night where we have nothing to do, we're allowed to play on our phones, go in the breakroom and play uno or whatever, really. What do I do with this time? I never thought I'd have the problem where I'm bored at work but I really don't know what to do. Others have brought in laptops and literally game with their downtime. I've considered the idea of remote work but what is there available out there? I don't have guranteed nothing to do and we're mainly free in the…
