I used to be a freelance graphic designer but in my admin job I sometimes get to do creative projects. It's a joy until people who don't have a design background get involved and suddenly all of the enthusiasm for it goes away.
I was supposed to start working for a small company as a recruiter but was told I wasn’t a “right fit” after 3 days. I did the normal hours but didn’t stay late. I was even told one day I could leave at 4:45 so I just got the impression it was okay to leave around that time. I was not told how long to stay and how late to stay either. It was actually supposed to be a hybrid role and I made it clear in the interview I preferred to be remote and they said that was fine but they switched up on me and said they wanted me in the office for a least two weeks to get acclimated to the company. I was very upset about this but I was willing to keep an open mind so I went in the office the next two days.…
A coworker of mine has a chronic autoimmune illness(lupus). During Covid and beyond he could not get his medication because of shortages. This got his body all out of whack, he has other health problems too. He is now in a wheelchair, but is preforming at his work duties from work from home. He got special accommodations when we all had to come back to the office. About two weeks ago he had a heart attack, he was back online a day after the hospital released him. The company called him today to say that he and his doctor needed to come up with a plan to come back to the office. He has been with the company 26 years.
I’m gonna lose my god damn mind. And this woman has chastised ME for ‘complaining’ (ya know, about wealth inequality and how practically everyone is drowning in unnecessary debts)! Why, if she doesn’t like how people don’t want to work here, she can take her OWN advice and either LEAVE or STOP complaining about ‘this generation’. (Yes, she told me ‘if I don’t like it, then I can leave…when I was complaining about the healthcare system fucking over my sister and her cancer situation…very realistic of course.) PS – This woman, I’m not kidding you, looked me in the eyes and stated ‘America IS the greatest country in the world’ in earnest…shivers.
For years I've always thought to myself, what if everyone on earth “got an education” and pursued a high paying career. Retail, food service, customer service, labor jobs, ect. Would have no choice but to raise their wages or become completely automated.
Hey everyone So I tested positive for Covid on Wednesday night and I phoned my employer on Thursday to let them know I won't be in work. I told them on the phone yesterday that I had tested positive for Covid only the night before, that I am showing symptoms and that I feel terrible. Everything was fine and all good until this morning when I get two texts from my work asking me to call them. I phoned them and they explained I need to phone the sick line everyday until I come back. I expressed to them that doesn't really seem fair as I need as much rest as possible right now and I shouldn't have to act like I'm still getting up for work. They replied back that it's policy. Needless to say the call didn't go past that. So im writing on here to get people's…
