This is just a proposal for you guys to consider. Although this sub serves some kind of purpose by showing solidarity between the working class and exposing the slave like conditions that are inherent to the capitalist system we live in. The popularity of this sub has brought a lot of new (sometimes uninformed) opinions that have limited the conversation to people complaining about their employers and talking about minimum wage and unionizing. That is all fine and well but prevents the community to seeing a future in which things are different. Now, I am not a socialist nor a communist (I lack enough reading for that), just plain anti-capitalist. But it would be great if we started discussing ideas instead of people/employers. I would love to see a thread discussing “The wealth of nations” or “Das Kapital” or any other work that people here deem worthy of discussion. Not…
Can’t Tell if Depressed or What
I've pretty much been anti-work for as long as I can remember, but I didn't have the right terminology to describe the sentiments, plus through conditioning, I was made to feel abnormal for preferring leisure time over work that I didn't feel reaped any value. I remember being a kid and just not caring about something that either wasn't interesting to me personally or I didn't see how it would improve my life or the lives of those around me (of course, kids can't always determine that for themselves). I struggle with this even today- I work because I have to. I don't come from money. I didn't marry into money. My last job kinda fit my needs in the sense that it required little to no effort, but unsurprisingly, it paid absolute garbage. I had no choice but to find a new job since I was never gonna get…
I work in a field where we work right out of our clients homes. Our direct care workers are required to write a detailed session note for each and every session but sometimes technology doesn't cooperate. It could be internet connection, iPad issues, issues with our app, etc. It happens a lot and when techs can't submit their session note during their regularly paid time, they have to go home and do it. It may only take 5-10 minutes but I recently asked how they should put that time at home into their time sheet. I was told: “This occasion would not constitute additional time to be billed to complete the note. It is best for technicians to make notes to themselves on general notes section or other format in the event the app or note is not allowing them to document as they go so that any issues needing…
Blue collar worker. Exhausted physically and mentally. Gonna end Friday with 50 hours and just got notified that weekend work is mandatory. Just wanted to know other peoples thoughts on this.
I make below minimum wage flipping burgers. I only do this to have enough hours/months to get unemployment checks (sorry not sorry). I've been working for 4 months, I have 2 months left until I'm moving to another city (literally only to have a valid reason to get away from this work). But I just don't know how to keep going. I'm supposed to work 30h/w but I always do overtime, I've worked around 40h/w since I've started. The shifts are not 8h however, which means I've been working 6-7 days every week. Now everyone else is sick in COVID but they are still at work (while COVID positive and showing symptoms, no face masks, MAKING FOOD), because they are forced to. We are also encouraged to not test for COVID. We are severely understaffed and have been since i started. We don't get extra money for being forced to…

Service is Bullshit
I've always worked in service right? Since I was 16. And I've worked the gammit of positions there are. I currently work at a “Mom and Pop” Italian place in my town. And even though I've worked up to management in other places, they have placed me in the lowest paying station. The management and staff treat me like I don't exist even if I'm talking to them. The management acts like I'm rude and an inconvenience for bringing up things I'm told to let them know about. There's a lot of forced positivity, and the people who actually made working there at least tolerable have left. I've been told I'd be fired for discussing my paycheck, workplace atmosphere, or haven't a problem with someone who doesn't do their job with anyone else who works there. I get consistently blamed for things I didn't do. I only get paid up…
Intentional Training Debt
Has anyone been in a situation they feel that they were intentionally tricked into training by management to keep you from leaving the company?
How do I take charge at the office?
I'm a Data Analyst. I work with people who are not data oriented. Sometimes I feel they lie or misrepresent things to my boss. Example, today a colleague asked me to do something which was requested by boss. She explained it in a diff way from what he wanted. Then my boss later asked me is it done, but I said it's not cause the employee said a diff thing. He said, employee explained it exact same as he did. I'm starting to get fed up of my incompetent employees. Should I just start taking charge, being very assertive and not caring about feelings? I mean before I wanted to be a team player. But now I just want to bulldoze everyone and tell them my thoughts, no more taddling to boss, I'll handle everything my way.
