Just gave my 2 minute notice
Boss tried to make me work this Saturday (which I’ve done the last two weekends). I’m scheduled to work M-F and I’m salaried. No OT for an extra day of work, no additional compensation. I told them that I already had plans to take my 2 youngest kids to a sporting event that day and couldn’t make it in. He said if I didn’t show up then he would write me up for insubordination. I went back to my office, typed up my resignation, emailed it to him, and walked out. Feeling pretty good right now.
Choice of words
There are so many reasons for the people to revolt, especially young people. We exist in a system where the old benefit and the young are left in the cold. We need to burn the village down and build anew.
Looking for any suggestions on books regarding wage slavery or industrial society, etc.
Easy Raise
Why aren't you constantly applying for new jobs? Liking your Co-workers is not a good enough reason. Already making enough money to survive isn't a good enough reason. Being scared of losing your benefits is almost a good enough reason but you shouldn't allow your employer to have that power over you. If you have kids in this crazy world I feel for you but you owe it to them and yourself to find the best possible opportunity. Get your own insurance, get your own retirement, find a way to keep yourself in a home with food to eat if things get tough and apply like no tomorrow. To get a raise at your current job you'd probably have to take on a more responsibilities than you already have, run yourself ragged trying to increase efficiency, etc etc.. All the while the competition is looking for someone with your skillset…
