How to make sure wait staff get the full tip

So not exactly “anti work” as such but I'm going over to the States next month from the UK. I've been lurking here long enough to know wait staff in the US are underpaid badly and management regularly take portions of their tips. My question is this: is there a way to make sure any server I have at a restaurant over there gets 100% I give, without potentially losing their job as a result? I do not want any part of my tips going to some middle manager that doesn't deserve it.

Homework brainwashes children into thinking it’s okay for your job to have power over your free time.

I’m a teacher who frequents this subreddit, and I just had a presentation from a small group of 6th grade students arguing the case for no homework. Growing up, homework was such a normalized thing for me, that I never really questioned giving it to my students. Even now, I think back on my high school years and can feel the echoes of the stress of staying up until 4 in the morning trying to complete assignments. I learned how to take naps after school so I could pull all-nighters the day before essays were due. The more I read of the horror stories on this sub, the more I feel it resonate within myself. I’m sick (quite literally) and tired of the constant pressure I feel to work outside of my contracted hours. So why in the world am I doing the same things to my students? As of…

The pain of the greeting “hello”.

Poetry from 60+ years ago. Some things don't change much. The Name on the Marble The workman that lives in the hovel, The boss that dwells on the hill, The sweat and the blood on the handle, The manicured hands in the till. The dirt and grime of construction, The carpeted floors in the hall, The flirting with death and destruction, The driving, hitting the ball. The names on buildings in cities, The nameless who died on the job, The rich, the minks and the kitties, The banquet, corn on the cob. The paycheck on Friday–existence, The corporate bonds in the vault, The union, the strike, the resistance, The placing of blame and of fault. The exam, the query, inspection, The son-in-law wanting the job, The waiting, the hope, the rejection, The appointment, the relative, slob. The saving of pennies in vases, The banknotes agleam in the jar, The worn-out shoes and…

Rising prices (inflation), Shortages, Childcare, and canceled vacations: Everything sucks, and employees around the globe are tired of it…

Why do we feel so miserable about life and money right now? Why economy is not working in the favor of all? Why the gap keeps growing between a minority who has all & a majority that has almost nothing? Is it time to address inequality? Let's pray the Great Resignation movement will be the hope to adjust an unbalanced reality & bring a concrete change!

Dean breaks promises of giving me a scholarship after I start working

Last year a dean promised me a scholarship if I would work for her department. Well I started work and for the past five weeks have been asking where the scholarship is. She wouldn't talk about it at all over email and waited to tell me in person that she couldn't do it anymore. I tried to confirm our meeting over email but she responded in a different email with no mention of it. That's when I realized she's been purposely evasive in the emails so she could outright deny it if she couldn't get me the scholarship. That's when I quit. The scholarship was why I felt financially stable enough to go back to school. Now I'm fucked. If you are making big decisions based off of promises employers haven't met yet make damn sure you get a paper trail.

The new normal?

I am interviewing for a job which pays £10 per hour (a few pennies more than the minimum wage). The recruitment process includes 4 steps (interview with the recruiter, the hiring manager and 2 role plays). Is this to be considered normal or shall I just tell them to f.o.? Edit: is a telemarketing job (in my native language, so shouldn't I be paid more because I speak a language they need?), no training, no career development, nada. It's only appealing to me because it's fully remote, BUT i will also have to use my own equipment (laptop, headset etc)
