is working in public sector better?
I really don't like the rat race now a days. Capitalism is really not good and I want to escape lol. What are your views on working in the public sector like healthcare or education? It's not perfect I know and you still have to work hard and the pay isn't good ect. Ect But maybe it's better in some ways?
This happened last year but I just need to get this off my chest. I used to work as a chef for a very popular bar in Barcelona, I was on €1400 per month and was paid half of my salary as a bank deposit and half in cash each month. This is very standard practice amongst the hospitality industry in the city, particularly at the smaller independent places, and yes it is as dodgy as it sounds. Employers will tell you that it's a win win situation, they pay less tax and in turn you get a higher salary, but let's face it, we know who's winning. So, after 6 months of working there, I go to collect the cash part of my salary at the start of the month, a task that was often harder than it needed to be as the accountant who was in charge of…
What if instead of companies spending money to train people that may or may not be suited for the job for x, y, z reasons, people could pay to be trained by any company to become a certified on call employee that could work to transition into a full time employee if both parties are happy with their work? Coming from someone who hates working the same job for long periods, I'd much rather prefer if I could pay to be trained by any company of my choosing. Then if I am competent enough to become certified at the task I'd be able to fill in any so called “labor shortages” as needed. This way I would not be tied to any one job while also having the option to become a certified employee of any company that I find interesting or worthwhile. Then as I work for different companies…
Drives me mad
When someone says “I’m always working”… as if it’s a badge of honor. Then they say they can’t take real time off, spend quality time with family, and can’t sleep bc they’re stressed the fuck out.
Can I buy a resume?
Where can I find someone to write my resume for me? Like buying essays in school? I'm a great worker, not so great with the wordy words.
The “next steps” after sending my resume. That’s a lot of work for what will absolutely be a dog shit offer. Thank you for the lovely red flags. EDIT: here’s the brief exchange where they doubled down on withholding any salary info.
Lost my job and housing in one day
Hello Reddit! I was a house manager at a sober living facility and was fired today due to bullshit reasons and nepotism. I can honestly say I did everything that was asked of me and more. I lost my job and my housing with absolutely zero notice given. This company was treating a client who was family of the owners, who I had the misfortune to house manage the house she was living in. Based off the fact that I enforced the rules equally and didn’t give her special permission to do whatever she so pleases, she told them whatever she needed to to get me fired. I’m wondering if there’s anything I can do to get a severance pay or literally anything. I will not take this quietly. I am in California, and places need to give you 30 day notice at least before they kick you out of…
