how do I go about asking pay questions without kicking to much of a hornets nest?

So I recently started a new factory job. My hours are M-F 6:45 to 2:45. You have to be changed and in your area by 6:45. Myself and my coworkers usually punch in at 6:31. That's the earliest allowed and then we stop work at 235 because we have to shower out for safety reasons. We all start punching out at the 245 mark. My checks have been for 40hours even every week even though they should be on average at least 41. So how do I bring up a line of questioning without putting to much of a target on my back.It is located Smaller area so finding another job with remotely close pay isnt really an option for the area

What are your thoughts on investing in the stock market?

I invest most of my income because I’m lucky enough to be able to do that. With inflation being as crazy as it is right now, the only way to not lose all my money is to invest. Saving money just makes no sense to me. I’ve heard a few people in here who thought all investors are evil, so I’m curious to hear what the average person in here thinks of it. Ps: I mostly invest in passive index funds that have proven to do well over time.

I’m pretty sure Amazon is making regular, non-delivery employees drop off shit at my house

This happened literally seconds ago. I was standing at the sink eating dinner, because that's how I roll, when I heard something out front. I looked up and, through the gap at the bottom of the blinds on my front window, I saw a late-middle-aged woman with what appeared to be a bad hip roll-walking back to like a 2002 Chevy Cavalier, and there was a small package on my porch. I live within easy walking distance of an Amazon fulfillment center, and I've seen a lot of deliveries on my street being made from everyday vehicles. I had been chalking it up to Amazon hiring tons of contractors who just use their own vehicles for deliveries, but I'm starting to think that's bullshit. There's no way that lady is cramming more than a dozen small packages into that car, and with that bad hip or whatever, I don't think…

EEO training is so bizarre

So in the public sector job I work there were some EEO complaints because a bunch of managers in another section were acting like jackasses. One of them racist and sexist, another a sexist. In the public sector EEO issues are jumped on because it is relatively easy to win a payout from a grievance/lawsuit. Rather than deal with the problem individuals we all get a group punishment where we have to attend some versions of EEO training. Besides being poorly presented there were a bunch of scenario slides for discussion all taken from real cases the EEO office “resolved”. In one particularly bad scenario there was an office manager with a health issue (allergies) that was particularly impacted by a bad summer and exacerbated by using public transportation. His boss told him he couldn't telework and was needed in the office due to the nature of the job so…

A few short horror stories about Ethan, the owner of the company I had my first job out of college at

My first job out of college I worked for a small company. The company was owned by an evil man. His name is Ethan. The first red flag was that in the job application it asked for minimum desired wage (no max) and then offered me exactly my minimum. I was in a tight place at the time and needed a job ASAP so I accepted. I could honestly write a novel about this company/owner and how awful he was but I'll stick to a few short snippets. The Cutting of the Burger Ethan always wanted to do a holiday party. When I say that, what I mean is that he wanted us all to think that he cared about us enough to host a holiday party for us but rarely followed through. Anyways, it happens once and he decides to have it at the office and have it be…

Found Out I’m Being Paid Less Than My Co-Workers For The Same Role (UK)

Hey guys. So I recently just got promoted at work and my salary on my new contract was stated as 33k (I was under the impression the role pays this much). I signed and returned the contract in question to our HR department. It wasn't until actually starting my new role that I discovered that my new colleagues are all on a 33.5k base salary. Furthermore, I got a 2.5% raise last year in my now previous role at the same company and this raise has not been reflected on my new annual figure. The problem here is I duly emailed our HR team to ask them if there's been a mistake (I made no mention of knowing my colleagues salaries & simply stated that I was under the impression it was 33.5k base) Their response; 'No. The role is 33k and not 33.5k. Your 2.5% raise is also reflected…

More games from my company.

Last week I was sent to a management training seminar by my place of employment. The day of, I showed up to work to make sure everything was in order before I left even though I didn’t have to. I am a supervisor and my role is pretty specialized; meaning I’m really the only one that can do my job on the day to day. My site manager (who I like – this isn’t about her or her fault) has to oversee the entire facility, which has several different departments, and being that she’s new, she’s never been trained in my area, there’s simply no time for us to get together to do it. Nevertheless the bosses decided to have her run my department in my absence as well as do all of her regular duties. Needless to say it wasn’t the greatest day. The bosses weren’t happy. (But honestly…

Getting along with people at work

I always seem to have the most trouble with the people – am I alone? It’s not even the work … feeling very defeated. Could use some advice on difficult people at work- thinking it’s me that’s the problem. 🙁

I’m about to walk out

My boss just left to get his lunch coffee. He was so matter of fact. We've been cut and dry with each other for a long time. Today hit a bad nerve for me, he told a patient the turmeric the way were taking was probably okay for thinning their blood but the aspirin wasn't doing them any good. An elderly woman. Please talk to your actual health provider before discontinuing prescription medications and important OTC medicines. This “doctor” (chiropractor) tests people and makes up imaginary problems. Sorry bubs, I am a child of science. Now the hard part that I need random strangers' input on: do I walk out today, while I'm the only person working reception, or when he's away on vacation? There is only one “doctor” in the office and two receptionists: me and one other lady who is out of town.
