Reasons for not getting a raise according to boss or employer
I wish this group didn’t exist
Before I start getting hate let me tell you why. It's a shame that companies large and small choose to treat their employees like garbage. I wish that weren't so. I see so many posts about people getting just completely humiliated, mistreated, sexually harassed, threatened etc. In a better world we wouldn't need this group, but I'm glad you all are here. You all really opened my eyes. A thought occurred to me that may have come up before so here it is: has anyone thought of getting together and making a company with fellow antiwork members? There's so much talent and potential among all of you that I'm sure it could happen. What if members that were local with similar talents got together and made an antiwork/anticorp thing? I don't know might sound stupid. Let me know what you think.
Get a job lmao
Lolololol
Non-compete anyone?
Okay so I just quit my job Friday and I already have 2 job offers on the table… both want me to sign a non compete. I do not sign these because they restrict your freedom from working in the future.. has anyone gotten around these? At my old job I simply told them “I’m not signing that” and they said ok. I tried negotiating with these two and they said “no it’s standard” now I’m in a rut. I understand most of these are not enforced but I had issues in the past. Ugh
How do I get fired?
During the pandemic I was promoted to a department that has always wfh. The rest of the company is now returning to the office and I was told since I worked in the office prior to the pandemic I have to return as well (the rest of my team gets to continue wfh) I have since moved further away from the office, I can’t make this fucking commute now and I don’t want to. How do I get them to fire me rather than me resigning? I want to collect unemployment while I search for another job.
Trouble Navigating The Job Hunt
Feel free to take down if this isn't the appropriate place for this. I was just hoping I might be able to get some help/advice from the folks here. I've always had trouble navigating the job hunt. I find it annoying, intimidating, and overwhelming. Most recently, I've been on the search for something part-time so I can have some more stability in my life. I've been a freelance writer for over four years now and it's just too unpredictable and I'm beyond burnt out. I've been applying to things and getting nothing or rejections in return. I'm a college graduate (Bachelor of English) and ever since I graduated in 2015, I haven't been able to figure out where my skillset really fits. It doesn't really help that I'm neurodivergent and feel really uncomfortable with phone work and customer service which might lead to me getting yelled out (which seems to…
I was working part-time at a retail store located in the American south east called Winn-Dixie. The Customer Service manager was a total prick and would work me when I was on break if they “needed it” (busy), would cuss me out and be a general bitch if I was doing something wrong, and was given 10 dollars pay which is nothing for all the hard hours of work I’ve put in. Well, i finally had enough and refused to show up to my shift today. Nobodys called me so im assuming im not employed there anymore, thank God. My plan is to get a new job when I get my license in mid-march at a place that pays 15 dollars an hour, part-time. I live in Jacksonville, FL. If anyone knows any place that pays like that I’d appreciate it to know, thanks.

As a result, the company fired Zheng Nan for “leakage of wages”, causing controversy. According to The Paper, on February 10, Xiao Zheng, a clerk of Hema Xiansheng Jinan Impression City in Jinan, Shandong Province, was sneaked at by a colleague when he checked his personal payslip on the company's payday. On February 12, Xiao Zheng was told by the company to fire him on the grounds of leaking secrets, which led to two colleagues in the department wanting to leave. The relevant staff of the Hema store where Xiao Zheng works responded that the employee salary information is a company secret, and it has been clearly mentioned in the induction training and employee handbook. After investigation and verification, Xiao Zheng…
How to negotiate wages?
I am a Field service engineer for a STEM company, haven't recieved a raise in three years but we have gotten bonuses for working through covid as essential. I'm having recruiters hit me up for other companies on LinkedIn constantly and have used your advice and let my first interaction with them be how much is budgeted. Their estimate based off my very unpolished page was starting at 20k more than what I'm at. I like my job. Is there a way I can mention this to someone above me and negotiate for a raise with it? I've never done anything along these lines and don't know where to start or, more importantly, HOW to start. Any suggestions would be absolutely appreciated
