*edited, sorry. I noticed on my timesheet today that the hours I had worked over the past two weeks were just reduced by about an hour a week. I asked my boss why and he told me that it was due to the fact that he marked the time that exceeded our paid 30 min lunch as “unpaid” and subtracted that from our overall hours that week, which I guess makes sense. I get why this was done, but it still doesn’t sit right with me. Can anyone chime in on this? I work part time so I went from making 900+ this check to about 850 – 875. If it’s important, this is the first time I’ve seen this done.
Old job tracking bathroom breaks.
I recently left a corporate job that was incredibly toxic in many ways. I put in my 2 week notice, but they told me I was “terminated” the same day but they would pay me for my last 2 weeks. Guess what, my final check never came, shocker! So I called HR and they told me to come in to their office and they would give me a check instead of direct deposit. As I was waiting for 45 minutes at a table in their conference room I noticed a posted note on my employee file that said “calculate 5 breaks per day”. I was a salary employee who never even left the office for lunch, and I never really took “breaks”? When I asked the HR representative what that meant, she told me that she was also leaving this job, and that my employer was tracking all employee bathroom…

I work in a group home for adults with intellectual disabilities. The company I work for is shit, not gonna lie. I've been here since May 1st of 2020 and have carried a good portion on my back. We went without a house manager for months. So obviously, not the best workplace. Well today we got an email from our house manager that angered all of us and caused 10 employees, myself included, to put in our two weeks. There is 12 workers in this house so staffing just took a major hit. They're lowering our pay in an economy where the cost of everything going up. Our base pay was 15.95. Got told it was being lowered to 15. The higher ups told my boss to not even tell us. My question comes when they say it will be applied to this coming check. So basically the last two…
Hi, Iam from Germany and working in a middle sized software company. I joined the company last year in April, so I’m there for a year. I’m proficient in multiple web programming languages and able to take lead position. The company is in need of people like me because their old staff is specialist in an antique Technology only one project can utilize. Most of them don’t want to learn something new or don’t know anything beside that. I was hired to fix this problem by starting new projects, lead them and teach others. So far it was a bumpy ride. I was so close to quit, when I got a really good project which is fun. I decided to stay at least 1-2 years because the project was fun enough and I could learn new skills. At the end of last year they published the numbers and said that…
Two months ago my wife completed her Orothpedic Technician license and advised the hospital she works for that she got it. She provided all required documents and gave them to her HR department. Due to her hospital being on the small/newer side they had to create a new job classification for her. The job started at 28 an hr, and with her overall hospital experience put her at 35 an hour. For the last month she has been making this amount. Sounds good right? Nope! Her boss pulled her aside and told her that HR screwed up and they were prepping to dock the pay to an unknown amount. She was hating her job before she got the raise, and the raise made it just bearable. However with the reduction she will more than likely hate it agian and quit. The reason for the post! We are looking for advice,…
Brief background, I'm moving to a new city to pursue more school in September. My current apartment lease ends June 1st, at which point I'm going to move back in with family in a different city for the interim to get a chance to see them before leaving again and save some money. My current job is grant funded and thus has funding limitations, and in the employment contract specifies three crucial things: that the term of employment ends after July 1st That I will work “approximately 40 hours per week” That “the total number of hours per week will not exceed 750” due to limitations of the grant funding the employment. When I informed my boss that my lease ends June first, and that I will have to leave at that point, I received no sympathy and was told that 'leaving early' was disrespectful. When I suggested closing out…
