A new job role can change a person.
I don’t know wether this has happened to any of you and I sure hope that if it hasn’t it never does as it can cause not only an awkward workplace but a toxic one as well. I’ve known this person who we will call Jim sorry to any Jim’s out there but I’ve known Jim for about 4 years and every time I’ve seen him around or in the canteen he’s been having a laugh with the colleagues including myself of course. I considered Jim as a good friend at work always pleasant to talk to and if you had any problems you could ventilate and he’d always listen. Recently he applied for a new role in the company which would soon make him a new trainer and of course to no ones surprise at the time he got the job! We were so happy for him and when…
I woke up this morning feeling very anti work. I’ve been at a defense contractor position for almost 3 years and I woke up this morning thinking that an ethical decision would be to quit today on the spot. Yay or nay? Money isn’t an issue and everyone is amazing at my current job – I just can’t mentally handle the 40% attrition rate that we’ve had in the past year. Maybe it’s time to swap careers and become a plumber…
No pajamas, kids.
“You can’t stay home in your pajamas all day,” Mr. Adams said at an event to announce his economic development team. “That is not who we are as a city. You need to be out cross-pollinating ideas, interacting with humans.” …. “We just had our best week since Covid began in 2020 — occupancy last week was over 30 percent,” said Scott Rechler, chairman and chief executive of RXR Realty, a major commercial real estate firm and another adviser to the mayor. “That’s not a number I’m thrilled with — it’s usually in the 90s — but every CEO and head of H.R. has a plan in place to bring people back in the next 60 to 90 days.”https://www.nytimes.com/live/2022/03/20/world/covid-19-mandates-cases-vaccine#pandemic-recovery-masks-nyc
I have no words…
no water, don’t care
Friday we got a notice from the city that water to our building would be shut off for most of the day Monday (today) for nearby construction. We are all still set up to work from home after we were recently forced back to the office, so we proposed staying home so we could, you know, poop and have live giving water to drink. We were told it's not an option and “just don't drink coffee that day”. Come in today to find no management in attendance. I'm not even surprised anymore
For all the people pleasing types who just wanna make their bosses happy… did there ever come a time when you realized it would never be enough? That you were made to feel guilty about something but then snapped out of it and realized it was just a toxic environment, and not you being a failure? Please share. I’m going through it right now…
