All those fires in the middle of the night that I should be tending to? I’m just swiping away those notifications. Their slimy management only hurts their customers. They never said anything to me yet, so I know they know they’re in the wrong here. If they say something to me about this, I’m going to put them on blast.
got a surprise raise, quit anyway!
it wasn't a terrible part-time job, and I was grateful for the (+$1/hr) raise, but i was also exhausted. I have some savings and I'm very lucky to be in a financial situation where it's ok for me to take a break from work for a little while. I was super anxious to send the message, but even though my boss hasn't answered yet I feel like a weight has been lifted off of me already. ️
Look at that guy over there not me.
It’s a workers market.
So as the title says.. don't feel bad for asking for what your worth! I just got a 5 dollar raise and I deserve it! I work long hours and always say yes to a project and I was 5 dollars under the average. Your boss knows what your worth I looked straight in my bosses eyes when I said no to a 3 dollar raise and stood up for myself! I have never seen an employer look scared and I knew it was time to shoot so I did.. and I got it Eyes and nose to the floor he said I understand and I got it! If it's not enough say so! It's a workers market everyone wants professional work but no one wants to pay! Let's change it!
a relic of a dream long dead
Money can definitely buy happiness!
Anyone else heard the stupid phrase “Money can’t buy happiness”? Yeah, bullshit. I’ve been dirt poor trying to just scrabe by, living off of ramen. Now I have a great job paying 6 figures and I’m able to not have to stress or worry about money. For me happiness is the freedom to do whatever I want, whenever I want. And my goal to reach financial independence has taught me that happiness is subjective. Saying “money can’t buy happiness” is just as dumb as saying “mcdonalds can’t make you fat” Just because a concept applies to you, doesn’t mean it applies to everyone. Happiness is subjective. And having enough money, is gonna definitely buy a lot of people happiness! My point of all of this, is that the phrase has been said by 2 people. 1) rich people who says this to their poor workers making minimum wage to ensure…
I work a production job. We were promised when we got a 3rd shift going we'd not be working Saturdays anymore. Third shift started and has been running for 8 months. We finally stopped working 10s two months ago. But we're still working Saturdays. They then told us, “when the new machine is running, the OT will stop.” Well, starting today we're running the new machine 20 hours a day and that means we're all back to working 5x10s and an 8 on Saturday. We're told when our other new machine comes in May, the OT will stop. About 1/3 of my shift is looking for a new job now.
Worked from home full time productively and efficiently for the last 2 years at a large insurance company call center. Been there for 4 years total. I even got a promotion during that time of being WFH and I have lots of off phone time. After lots of delays, we officially started back today. They are allowing a hybrid work situation if you choose, so I’m at the office 3 days and home 2 days. The thing is, last year I moved to a different state, about 1800 miles away, due to my husband getting a new job. The new city I live happens to have another main office of my company. And my house is only about a 15 min drive. Because of this, I’m not eligible for an “exemption” to stay WFH. My manager isn’t even here. She’s back in my hometown where I moved from. The other…
