When I first noticed Antiwork a month ago, it was about unionization within PetSmart and through a few popular posts about mistreated employees who were asking for advice or have successfully stood up for themselves against shit bosses/employers. It was amazing to see because I’ve had fear standing up for myself before in risk of losing my job and income — the fear of being in debt or homeless since I believed I didn’t have the skills to find another job. The number of people who were fighting back helped me gain some courage, confidence, and the stories gave me awareness of what I can do or how I can deal with a shit work situation. I didn’t feel alone specially when people I knew in person would simply say in acceptance that “it’s like that everywhere” or “it’s just something you have to deal with” preventing me from trying…

Worst companies you’ve ever worked for?
Hello Everyone It Is Time
As of today, i’ve made up my mind, this will be my last week in this company i plan on either quitting or asking for a different position, the fact that made me realize this job was getting to me was that my friend called me earlier and i unknowingly read my call script, even after reading their name, i’ve been basically brainwashed at this point to respond to phone calls like that, i’m sick of calling people and stating that they have debts and for them to get upset and curse me out without me being able to say anything back, or when people call in saying that i’m ruining their “perfect credit” if it was so perfect why do you owe “xyz” you would have better track of your finances if it was true. i have enough money to take a 5 month break bills and emergencies included,…
I work in a government office as part of the head of office's legal staff. Recently, I was assigned the task of preparing memos, warnings, and other admin/discipline-related documents for erring supervisors. One of those supervisors was a division chief who, instead of explaining as he was asked, decided to verbally assault me, insult me, and try to intimidate me. Now our own union is protecting the division chief and excluding me.
I don't care. I even respect you less because all it shows is you're an empty shell of a person till the day you die. Now if you're bragging about playing elden ring, now we're talking. O.o.
I should mention that we are a company of 30 employees/teachers who run private classes, and the contracts we get are very expensive and lucrative. Also, almost nothing of the money is paid to us. My boss who is an absolute tyrant has hired an HR manager who is looking for complaints and does absolutely nothing. We suspect he is cleaning house and wants to terminate those don't like it here.
I have a dear friend in Spain (Andalucía) who recently became disable. She had to undergo surgery and sadly, she cannot work as a nurse anymore. She started working as a nurse after a short two-years long course that was 100% free. No debt. Four years later she bought her own house, the mortgage is around €300 (Less than 30% of her mortgage) Now that she’s disabled, she’s entitled to disability benefits of around 60% of her salary FOR LIVE. On top of that, because of a law I don’t understand, her mortgage is now forgiven. And her workplace offered her a job as admin for the same pay, happily taking care of all the accommodations and telling her to take “as much months as she needs” Meanwhile in my country, disable people are practically excluded from every job search, get benefits that only cover for some groceries, and are…
