I live on the West Coast of the US, for reference.
How is this possible?!?!
Boss randomly yelled at me for 20 minutes. I’m taken out on a gurney after a horrific panic attack. And no one cares. Nothing to see here.
I worked for family for over 20 years building his business and in the end he dropped me with nothing. I was his “partner” and I got jack shit. This isn’t recent but I’m so mad still. I killed myself and got jack shit.
Work overnights at a hospital and was in a reception room area to sit during my free time. Security guard didn't even give me a verbal warning and immediately started yelling and asking for my ID for a write up. Now I have to have a meeting with my manager and aupervisor and sign some documents. Wtf is wrong with these corporations trying to make you feel like shit for simple mistakes? Making me feel like I'm gonna have an anxiety attack for sitting in a room no one warned me as “unauthorized”. Fuck This fucking bullshit. I'm on my feet all day hauling ass moving these patients and sit down for 5 minutes on my down time and have to deal with this
We always talk about servers getting bad tips and how it’s hard on them, only getting $2.13/hr in most places, and not only that, when they get stiffed they often have to tip out to a variety of people like the bartender, the hosts, bussers, etc so it ends up costing them money in the long run. But one of the things no one seems to talk about is most places (especially corporate restuarants) require their servers to bring a bank of at least $20 with coins every shift. I’ve always felt this was an unreasonable request. You expect me to set aside some of my money to make sure I can make change to sell your food? No. Are you gonna cover my electric bill when I’m $20 short? Go to hell. Every place I’ve worked as a bartender with a drawer I’ll make change for everyone there just…
So far I've seen two posts about not trusting your co-workers, and honestly that doesn't make any fucking sense. I'm not saying you should trust everyone or that there aren't people out for themselves, but completely distrusting and never sharing anything with your co-workers is completely counter productive to the idea of any labor movement. What is the fucking point in calling for solidarity if you're just going to isolate yourself?
Well, I did it
I work/ed for a car dealership. I had one boss and his boss, but the chain of command was always flawed. Thought the lil boss and I were cool, always talking and chatting about our lives and whatnot. So, today big boss was giving me shit for something inane and I made a comment how him and lil boss seem to frequently blow things out of proportion, like aren't we just here to sell cars and have fun and make buckets of money? About 15 minutes later I'm outside the front doors and lil boss comes out and goes DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH ME?! Then, goes on to berate me, loudly, right in front of the front doors. My coworkers heard and customers heard. I calmly walked away, went to my desk, packed up all my stuff, and walked the fuck out. Funny thing is…lil boss' days off…
