Greetings from Germany. I have a boss that many people here is used to I guess. I'm working at a local car dealership and as the title suggests this is what my millionaire boss who is the owner of the company at the same time said to me. I am running the sales operations of the company and I use our ground floor as my station. I run around all day walking around 30k step everyday. But we don't have any kind of heating or ventilation system whatsoever because the area is basically too big and I am not worth installing a system so I don't get freezed to death or poisoned from the tyres he puts to sell in winter time. And the winter in Germany is no joke. We see -20c° regularly and my work place goes down to 3-4 degrees. So he suggested that there is a…
well, today’s the day
I am finally quitting my shit job today. A few months ago I had to pay $200 out of pocket for the repairs/replacement to my tires. A few weeks ago they tried to write me up for calling out to take care of my immunocompromised girlfriend who had covid. Now I find out they've turned off deliveries for Monday until further notice, so I've lost 9 of my hours every week, and they didn't bother telling me. With inflation and the price of gas, it is no longer feasible to work there. They are VERY short staffed, and the RM is confused as to why, saying things like “idk why anyone isn't applying, we're paying $10/hr”. It's gonna feel great to walk in and just ask my manager to give me a single reason why I should stay. Advice or suggestions on what to say?
2 years ago, trump was visiting Trump Tower in NYC and delayed all subways for a full day. I arrived late to work around 8am after having to change my route and proceeded to work until almost 1am. Around 12, as I was putting tips together, I was called into my managers office and fired. Still the dirtiest thing any manager has ever done to me.
Plunder = Riches with Little Effort
Man can live and satisfy his wants only by ceaseless labor, by the ceaseless application of his faculties to natural resources. This process is the origin of property. But it is also true that a man may live and satisfy his wants by seizing and consuming the products and labors of others. This process is the origin of plunder. Now since man is naturally inclined to avoid pain – and since labor is pain itself – it follows that men will resort to plunder whenever plunder is easier than work. “When plunder becomes a way if life for a group of men living in society, they create for themselves, in the course of time, a legal system that authorize it and a moral code that glorifies it.”
But wE’rE a TeAm
My boss (who’s on vacation) just messaged us that he bought flowers for his boss on behalf of the department, and we all need to Venmo him $20 for it.
Hi Reddit. I don’t know if I’m looking for advice or just to vent, but I’ve reached my breaking point and I’m about to lose my mind. I work in human medical research. I’m an assistant and I work with 3 PhDs. I’ve worked here since August and I’m currently drowning. I get here at 8 am and work 8-5. Everyone else has pretty variable hours, but I’m always the first one here so I can start everything as soon as I get here. For the past month, I’ve had so much work that I get here at 8, work until 1, take 15-20 minutes for lunch, go back to work until 5, all without stopping. And even then, the work isn’t finished and the PhDs finish up after I leave. I also come in once every weekend to feed our cells and check everything. I live 35 minutes away…
Lawsuit territory?
As titles states. I work in an SEMH* School, so we deal with 11-16 year old that present very challenging behaviours and can be extremely violent. We've been struggling with recruitment, as a result we've been using agencies to provide staff. We had an experienced person join us that was not only great at the job, but also fantastic with the kids. He also had a cultural background that we've not got in the team and resonated with the students. In a nutshell, he gave us exactly what we needed and was resilient enough to manage the job. His contract was coming up to expire. No one from SLT spoke to him. One of our middle leaders facilitated a meeting, my colleague asked for Market Rate, they offered the bottom rate. He said he couldn't accept it. They said take it or leave it. Today would have been his final…
