I want a general strike

I'm going to try my best to be as simple and proficient of this expression as I possibly can as the last time my wording apparently dinged me as a Fed for this inquisition? I want to find an organization that is seeking strong efforts to organize such a thing. If this is the wrong thread for that, can someone point me in the right direction?

Companies should be tied to a person

Right now megacompanies are soulless machines whose only purpose is to extract as much money as possible from their communities. They can’t be jailed like a person can, they can’t accept individual blame for their actions, and they don’t suffer any consequences because they are not even sentient. The atrocities committed by these big businesses is only possible because no one person can be held accountable — CEOs can hide behind bureaucracy or cut and run if things get bad. Decisionmakers that are called out for abuses/crimes just use scapegoats or are quietly “fired” with a huge severance. The company has then paid the fine and is allowed to live on, and just replace the cog.

I QUIT: here’s my email to them

Let me preface the saying I know I was too nice. Dear boss, Thank you for the opportunity to work in this position for the past 3 months. I’ve greatly enjoyed and appreciated the opportunities I’ve had. I’ve learned new skills, all of which I will take with me throughout my career. I would like to take this time to explain my early departure. When I got hired for the job I was told that it would take roughly a month for the background check to come through and that I would work in different departments in the meantime. In truth, you did not know what was going on with this job. You didn't know the steps that needed to be taken or how long things were going to take. In all honesty, it is my opinion that you should have had one of your managers go through the entire…

You qualified for the raise but your not getting it because….

The large company I am currently employed with does merit increase each year for raises. It's probably similar to many other large companies in that you get a % increase of your salary based on your performance review from the year prior. Without saying what I do or who I work for my job is stressful. I deal with state audits, money, benefits, medical treatment, employment laws etc. In November 2021 I put in my notice and accepted a position at a different firm. I had my reasons for leaving (over worked, under paid, just wanted change). My employer immediately offered me a large salary increase and a title promotion. Of course I was told the promotion was already in the works before I put in my notice and I was being promoted based on my performance, not my notice… blah blah blah. They made it clear the promotion wasn't…

Corporate America in a nutshell

A friends company just had an all team meeting. 1st half of meeting: Kudos to all! Record profits! $66 mil over expected profits. Good job everybody! 2nd half: Sooo we only budgeted for a 3% raise for you all, so that’s what you get. Awesome Encova Insurance those raises don’t even match COLA let alone inflation.

“If we pay everyone twice as much, will they be twice as productive?”

I was reminded of a little story about a previous boss and figured I'd share. One day during a company meeting, my boss showed us all a video of a formula 1 pit crew setting the world record for the fasted tire change (or something like that) and said we should strive to be like them when changing over machines. I and others on the production team started joking about how much those guys must get paid compared to all of us, to which the boss responded with the post title. Our comments were all in good fun, so nobody pushed the matter. Later, as I was leaving, I saw the boss showing the video to a client who had stopped by for a tour. When he explained to the client that he expected the team to perform like the pit crew, the client said the same thing as all…

My hours are getting cut because the new owners of the pizza place i work for “have to pay bills too.”

What kind of reasoning is that? And why should that effect me? If you can’t afford to pay me then let me go and allow me to collect unemployment. Instead they are whittling away my hours, so I can barely make ends meet. BACKGROUND I have worked here for 2 years and am the only cook that has stayed since the new owners took over. I stepped up when we were short staffed, I stayed later to help out, I literally prep everything for this store to function and sell food. I’m just so sick of working in kitchens and working for people who don’t care about anything other than the bottom line. I want to just walk out.
