I just quit, and it feels wonderful.
I worked at a manufacturing plant as an industrial mechanic for almost 7 years. Today, I was told about a new work order process that requires a production supervisor to contact an “area lead” in the mechanic shop, who then assigns work orders to mechanics or electricians. When the work is complete, the area lead verifies that the work is complete, and contacts the production supervisor to verify that it was completed, then said work order is closed and entered into our rinky-dink custom database that is used because the company is too cheap to buy a license for an actual maintenance tool like SAP or similar. The Weekend Is A Capitalist Construct
I remember seeing this regurgitated over and over when I was first looking for an apartment. The only places I could afford working two jobs were at least a 1/3rd and they looked awful. It’s just not correct when you are first starting out. When I did, my rent was about half of what I made in a month. Then my Insurance, Utilities, Car, and groceries ate the rest. I ate ramen and rice the whole first year. “People need to get to work.” Yeah, eating the rich and making life livable for the MAJORITY mind you. I love this sub.
