I asked for TWO fucking days. I am at a loss. Not only that but after I was further accused of not being able to “handle” working – at the job where I had consistently worked for almost a year with no negative performance reviews. Anyway, guess I missed my window now.
Word Problem
I have a masters degree and my desk job pays me $14/hr. I also have diagnosed major depression and the job is not helping. I vented to a friend and he told me to get over it and that he made “$10 an hour at his first job after college.” I saw red at this statement for multiple reasons: No college educated person should make $10/hr (he graduated approximately 6 years ago). He was comparing his first job out of undergrad to my third job out of graduate school – there’s no comparison to be made here. He, like others, just accept the awful system that exploits its workers. I have a job using my masters degree and make the EXACT SAME as those starting at Burger King down the road. Obviously, there is NOTHING wrong with working at Burger King and honestly $14 seems low for that work too.…
fuck Ben update
Some of you may remember my story. I worked at a pretty toxic Starbucks and was fired for posting on this subreddit about it. So I wasn't able to afford a labour lawyer long term. However, I found a much better job for a higher pay, and better benefits, one where the managers realize their employees are humans and treat them with a modicum of respect. If anyone wants to review bomb them be my guest. DM me and I can give you the store information. Jut wanted to share incase any of you are feeling beaten by the system. Solidarity and love.
No call no show
So I work at Wendy’s and the manager has decided to lower the night shift wage from 7.75 an hr to our state minimum wage of 7.25. The whole night shift is going to no call no show tonight. I’m thinking of joining them.
