My food service job expects you to work with a fever and throwing up

i work at a very popular fast food restaurant that only allows 3 call outs a month. (doctor’s note means nothing to them) i’ve been super sick with over a 100 fever, throwing up, diarrhea, along with many other symptoms. they don’t care. i work in the kitchen and handle the food of thousands of customers a day. i was gonna try to go in today even though i’m still miserable but woke up throwing up again. so i decided to call out and was threatened to be fired. oh well. i’m fucking sick of it.

Why we must all leave r/antiwork after a while

Most of us here either work or will work in the future, that much is clear. I fear a constant negative messaging about work is only going to “ruin” our work experience further without improving us in any way. Of course once you've had your moment of breakthrough, realizing that the work environment sucks, you need a healing period where your feelings are validated and your experience is shared. However, we must move into socialist subreddits and become the movement that we need. By move into I mean literally leaving this sub and going to leftist subs such as r/socialism, r/socialism101, and etc (any Marxist/labour related sub). This movement has to be political, or we'll end up being a circle jerk bubble that has no significance.

Guess the “honeymoon” is over.

I started writing this out and it was getting a little long winded for my taste so here I go again. I started working at a smallish public library as a library assistant in late September. Up until today it has been one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever had. Over that past month or so I’ve been noticing that my supervisor has been sending out weirdly specific and passive aggressive emails to everyone who works the circ desk, reminding us on policy and procedures. I didn’t think much of it. Figured I was doing my job well enough. Within the first hour of being clocked in I come to find out that my supervisor is “really sad” that I wasn’t trained in as well as everyone else. Why wasn’t I trained in as well as everyone else? Because I am a man and they weren’t comfortable being one on…

BE A ROBOT, DON’T COMMUNICATE “That’s unsurprising, since many of us think venting will make things feel a little better, whether it’s complaining to co-workers about a micromanaging boss or airing frustration with your partner and kids.”

Which underhanded practices have you seen companies employ to stop their employees from resigning.

The title says it all. For context, I went for an interview with a Multi National Company in India when I was a student. I remember the company asking us to sign a notarized paper (stamp paper it's called here) saying we would work for a minimum of two years and not leave otherwise we would have to compensate the company by paying three month's wages. What other deplorable acts do you know of that companies use to make their employees stop leaving

Days before I start a new job, can the pay change?

I accepted a job that pays decent at $16.50 an hr, with 3k hiring bonus. I already signed the offer letter and 99 percent completed the onboarding process, and I start the job in 4 days. Can I still ask negotiate the wage? 16.50 was the offer and I didn't negotiate because at the time of my interviews and signing everything I was desperate with no other offers.
