Applying for a new job and I've heard of people lying on their resume to get into positions/promotions and etc. Do employers really call and check your references? Can any employers confirm?
More context. After several problems with HR not doing their job (check my first post) & now even more problems with my supervisor demanding i do my job, though i am not able to due to him not making sure all my equipment is working. On top of this several of us workers have come together & started talking about how multiple times people have been promised raises for getting CPR training, & other personnel training, but never once has it been followed through with. On top of this, we all signed contracts with corporate saying we would get reviewed in the first 90 days of work & none of us have (multiple of us has worked here for less than a year) I am on my way out the door after this next paycheck. Give me your best suggestion for what i could do to get the attention of…
Making a Stand Today
Next week I will be the only manager at a small box store. We were already short one manager before corporate moved our store manager without replacing them, and our other manager is leaving due to health issues. Today I'm calling the GM for a raise and, more importantly, demanding a promotion for an associate they've refused to promote. There is no reason for their refusal to promote this person other than, I suspect, a personal vendetta on the part of our GM. This employee has been training me since there is no one else available or even capable of training me. If they don't give this employee a promotion then they won't have any managers at all. I'm not very confrontational so I'm a little nervous but I have nothing to lose, either I get the help I'm demanding or I never have to think about this place again,…
So when’s this strike happening?
Seen so many posts about how everyone wants a living wage, how to unite and strike from labour and show them we hold the power, but that's all I'm seeing – just words. When's the action happening? Are people going to give up after starbucks starts paying 25 dollars an hour or can we fight for some real results? Not meaning to be demotivational but something needs to happen and soon.
I’m on a sinking ship
Update from https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/t7aln9/my_new_boss_is_a_joke/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share 7 people in our department (not included: new boss). I am one of 3 project managers. The 2 others have already applied for other jobs, 1 told us today she got the job, the second one will know by the end of the week. I feel fucked by the CEOs poor decision-making. I don't want to leave this job because it's really good work-life-balance-wise and I don't want to let down my project team, BUT I am on a sinking ship, right? Fuck!
Crude oil is now cheaper than 2011-2015
To avoid turning this into a political post, I would refrain from mentioning the name of the country but many in the region have similar laws: 1) 30 days a year paid vacation. By law a minimum. We also have approximately 15 days a year of national holidays that are considered days off (besides the normal weekend). 2) If you are an expatriate, you also get a plane ticket to and from your home country once a year 3) When you quit or are fired (unless you're fired for illegal activity or fraud) you get some workers benefits. I get 1 month salary (based on my last salary) for each year I have worked when I leave the company. This is by law. 4) You're allowed a minimum of 15 minutes late clocking in by law. So if your work starts at 8:00 AM, you can clock in at 8:15…
