Durant Roadhouse Bar and Grill owners’ response after being called out discriminating against tattoos. Do most people in OK not have tattoos? Obviously its the owners right to not hire someone but is this justification stand for other Okies?

I just declined an IT position a day before I was supposed to start

I was going to work for this company that does all sorts of business, from studio recording to motor works. During the interview process, I felt off about working for them in the first place, but decided that I really needed a job and I'd just take their job while continuing to search for another. Well, I got an offer from another company today that is entirely remote for the same pay. I let the original company know today that I would not be working with them and explained the conditions of the new job, just to give them a chance to offer more money if they wanted. They responded by sending a calendar invite to schedule my HR Orientation. So I sent the same email again, notifying them that I would not be taking the position. They responded and said that letting them know a day before my start…

Finally put in my 2 weeks

I was finally able to put in my 2 weeks at the job I am at now. This place has been killing me. When get home from work all I have the energy to do is lay on the couch or in my bed and sleep. I was able to negotiate a 15% raise to go back to the job I was at before and during the majority of the pandemic, loved the people there but corporate had only offered a .30¢/hr raise after all the extra work during the pandemic.

How to approach leaving my job

I work for a tech company who contracts for (fake name) Boogle. I was in the warehouse and in Dec 2019 got my girlfriend a job in the office. She was able to work from home from March 2020 to now. At the end of 2021, I also joined this role and begun working from home. Boogle's RTO kept getting pushed back and I'll admit there was hope that we would just not return. Our director is (a complete piece of shit) very paranoid about working from home as some people in this role took major advantage of it in the past. He has been clear that his desire is for everyone to return to office. In 2 years, this team has proven constantly that working from home is doable. We were told at the least we would have a hybrid schedule with one day at home, but now we…

Need your help for a RPG whose theme is working in a modern-day dystopian company.

Hello everyone, I come to you with a special request. I am currently making a RPG centered about logistics workers, in companies like Amazon. It all started when a friend of mine gave me a challenge: make a fun, short RPG experience about one of the least funny context conceivable. Of course, I immediately thought about the working conditions in Amazon and other firms of the sort. Now, I never worked for the private sector myself and never will, since I’ll end up a public servant at the end of my studies. I follow this sub for a few months now, it already gave me quite a few ideas, but you know like me there is no such thing as enough inspiration material. What I would like: anecdotes, stories, about your working experience or the one of your relatives. Maybe describe your job if you’re in a logistics company like…

My boss just denied my request to work from home due to health complications

So I got hired by a customer service company, It was all really great at the beginning, a healthy workplace and a nice enough wage to get by. 3 months in, the place is a mess, most of the workers are badly trained, and since I'm the only one doing things toroughly and with dedication, the bosses end up throwing all work my way, because I handle it all better. I have been silent about it, but they keep giving me more and more responsibilities, expecting more of me everyday, but when my dad gets sick and I have the doctor recommending us all to isolate, I gave my boss the legal doctor's note, and he took a while to respond to me with “No, because it would set a precedent with other workers, and we want all of you strictly working on the office” I've been doing my work…

conflict of interest or just Bs?

Posted this on another sub but thought I'd bring it here. So I was trying to get a second job and was trying to give a heads up so they knew and didnt get caught off guard with scheduling. Then they mentioned conflict of interest clause in the handbook because it's a competitor, which I read it it says full time (I'm part time) and doesn't mention specific competitors just says a vague conflict of interests. So how should I go about this? I work at an arcade and was going to get a job at a separate arcade. (The dude is known for well this is corporate policy but it wasn't X's policy.) So what should I go about it? Just take the other job if it's better pay instead of two?

Does my job suck or am I just lazy?

Hello all! I wanted to see what your thoughts are on my job as I am about to turn in my notice but wasn't sure if I am being overdramatic. I work in financial services and have my financial licenses and have an OK job making about 65k/year. While I am underpaid, my issue isn't necessarily with my pay. I started in 2020 and was in a fully remote setting running meetings virtually. There was always the potential to travel for meetings in the future, but with new variants always got pushed out. Now that COVID is essentially “over”, my company wants me on the road traveling (driving) to appointments which are typically 2-3 hours round trip. They compensate us for mileage, but with current and projected gas prices it doesn't even break even. They mention wanting to embrace the “new normal” of virtual work but don't actually stick to…

Exhausted with the chaos

It's been two months since our operations lead left, and all of his responsibilities have fallen on me and my supervisor. The owner doesn't “abide by” titles, and gets frustrated whenever they come up, but at this point… I was hired as an administrative assistant ten months ago. I now have a four and a half page job description, which parsed out, equates to Human Resources Coordinator, People Operations Coordinator, Customer Representative, File Clerk, Office Manager, and administrative assistant. I'm getting dragged into shift scheduling because the owner doesn't trust our new scheduling coordinator. I'm job tracking every contract that hits five figures. And in the meantime, I'm getting slammed on all sides because I've been assigned to literally every single department in the company just to patch holes as people leave. I'm exhausted. I've developed an eye twitch. I had to talk down a 6'4″ man who was yelling…
