Shouldn’t I be able to cancel this months insurance after quiting?

So I recently quit my terrible job (Sunday the 6th, yay!) and I get this in an email. 40 hours of accrued vacation will be paid out this week Your insurance will terminate 3/31/2022 A total of $139.08 will be deducted for insurance premiums to cover the remainder of the month You will be offer COBRA through the mail to extend your Medical, Dental and/or Vision benefits at a higher premium (watch for a plain white envelope) Life Ins and Critical Illness can be extended as well, if interested call CIGNA directly at 1-800-362-4462 We were able to collect all equipment issued except the metguards, so we will deduct $35 from this week’s check.  If you have them and return them, we would reimburse that $35.00 Shouldn't I be able to cancel the insurance for this month? And get that money back? I tried looking on the DoL website…

My billion dollar mortgage company laid off sales and customer service workers because people don’t want to refi/buy a house with the market how it is so sales are down.

They have never laid people off before. We did great sales numbers in Covid 2020 because of Historic rates and many people were trying to refi. 2021 was so so in sales. 2022 we are now not doing good in sales (compared to 2020) we literally harass our customers asking them if they wanna buy a house, we cal and e-mail them everyday for months because we can offer $1,000 off…. Sorry billion dollar company, no one wants to buy a house or refi with the market how it is, even with the 1,000 off buying a house and refi is not ideal right now. So my company decides to fire customer service agents and sales agents because of this. Then in the same email at the end, they brag about what our company stands for and we are ethical and reliable we are, then proceeds to brag how we…

Part time job wanted all my availability

I worked a remote part-time temporary contract job as a program assistant between undergrad and graduate school where the hours ranged from 5-20 each week. When they hired me they said it was okay to have other part time jobs since the PA hours were flexible and the work could be done whenever. So I got another part-time job working as a teaching aid part time, and when my PA supervisor checked my time sheets and saw that there were certain hours of the day I didn’t clock time, figured out I was working another job, and got upset that I wasn’t always available to answer emails immediately or whatever. Told me they hadn’t given me permission to get an actual other job and just thought I should temp teach (which would still mean I couldn’t answer/work PA all the time, except now it would be random??), despite the fact…

I loathe assessment tests

So, I’m sure there are certain roles where assessment tests make sense. I had a data entry job in high school that required a WPM test and that was a logical way for them to see how fast people could type without making mistakes. That being said, the line of work I’ve been doing for the past 17 years uses a handful of programs with a huge range of use and the couple of assessment tests I’ve taken were using the programs in ways that hadn’t applied to my previous jobs, however if you’ve worked with those programs for as long as I have, it’s very easy to learn those new functions on-the-job. To me, it’s incredibly rigid to expect a perspective employee to preemptively know how to do a job before they’ve even interviewed and I hard pass job postings that require I complete assessment tests anymore. If I’ve…

With gad prices going up, how are Americans supposed to “return to work”

I fully stand with Ukraine personally, but with gas prices going through the roof, why would the current administration urge people tor eternal to work? No one can afford a commute if gas prices go through the roof again.

If EVERYONE(100 people) gets perfect call scores, then we get an unexcused absence removed or like 3 dollars in rewards. Way to get everyone to try really hard for no reason! I doubt a whole team has ever had a 90%.

Hospital messing with workers

Alright so get a load of this, my hospital has struggled with mandatory overtime in our department for years even before COVID started. We finally hit a reasonable level of staffing so only occasionally people are getting called in and the University of Iowa Hospital even received its largest single donation of $75 million dollars last month. These guys decide they are going to cut some of our workers pay by $7 an hour. That is about $14560 less per person and why you might ask? Truth is I don't know but they did just spend money on fixing their giant 12 story tall glass wall to the hospital because they installed it wrong the first time and now it needs redone. The result? Three people quit instantly and more are walking out the door as soon as it goes in to effect

15 years experience…here’s 2 weeks PTO

A recruiter reached out to me about a Senior Director position at a publicly traded company. I have 15 years experience in my field with great credentials. I’m reading the info and get to PTO: 2 weeks. I emailed the recruiter back about the PTO. Was told benefits are non negotiable this is what they do across the board. Are companies just this silly? What Senior Director level person is going to accept a position with that benefit?!
