Gas or Work?
So we go to work to make money to pay bills and buy things, including gas, which we then use to turn around and do it all over again. Work, little money, bills/gas, work, little money, bills/gas…….what happens when those of us who can't work remotely can't afford gas anymore? It's now $40 to fill up my teeny tiny car…which I have to do every 3.5 days. That's about $80/week so $160/pay period…that's more than my utility bills combined….just to be able to pay my utility bills.
Alligator wrestler… No benefits.
for fucks sake?
Alright, so I have 128 hrs of pto. But… because our small team doesn't have coverage, i can't take two straight weeks off. Not necessarily saying I'm entitled, but what the fuck? I had covid in January and burned some i.e. 40+, but as stated, still have the aforementioned 128 hrs. Who fucking advertises that much pto without playing out a consensutive actual vacation… first world problems I guess. So, as I normally take my 2 weeks in the first part of April, do I just fuck them over with the latter later on in our “busy season”? Fucking hell, I'm kind 'of legit ticked off. In what way do I counter this kind of culture is what I'm asking?
Do Not Speak Their Language
Every company/corporation nowadays it seems has their own language of acronyms, words, policies, etc. Whenever a group of people conquer another they always force their language on the conquered people. This is a subliminal form of submission. Understand the language to use it to your advantage but do not adopt it.
Back to adult daycare.
I’ll be going back to adult daycare at the end of the month. The boss reluctantly acquiesced to allow WFH two days a week. He doesn’t understand why people don’t want to spend the time, effort and money on childcare/commuting because “we all did it before”. He thinks everything should and will go back to the way it was pre-pandemic. I don’t understand why, if productivity doesn’t suffer, employers feel the need to force the drones back to the office. Sure, to monitor and control, but it’s deeper. Is it fear? Do we really have power as an organized workforce? There will be pouting at my adult daycare, and I don’t think it will just be the employees.
What my boss said to me today
So I was filling up Propane for a customer and the charges on the machine claim that a single gallon is $3.99, but for some stupid reason it says two on there. So a customer needed 25 gallons and had only $100 but $3.99 is basically $4.00 so that was confusing enough. So once the customer went inside to pay, my boss said to him that the cost was over $100 because of taxes, so my boss instead decided to scold me for missing that, even though the tax rate on the machine was blank, indicating there was no clear amount for the taxes. So he kept asking me questions like “So you do know that $4.00 × 25 gallons is $100 right?” I said yes and he said to me for some reason “Are you sure?” Well, obviously I fucking know that it is but he is just trying…
Talk to your HR and tell them you'll decline health insurance (inceasing their premiums and costs) if they don't cover telehealth including teletherapy. Call the insurance company directly and tell them you'll drop their asses. These greedy shitheads are heavily invested in commercial real estate and want to force you back into an office to further pad their bottom lines. Don't let them. Tell them you're not going to pay them to pay to drive to pay to park so they can pay a healthcare provider less money to provide the same service they were providing remotely.
He said through his sobs that the mother of his children had sudden heart issues and was in the hospital. He hadn’t left work yet because he was waiting for someone to show up to take over. How absolutely fucking insane!? That we live in a world that expects someone to stay at ANY job in a familial (or otherwise) crisis. I hope his wife is doing okay, and I hope he got to see her before a tragedy struck, if it did. I walked right out of the shop after wishing him and his wife the best.. I truly hope he locked up and told his boss to fuck himself. One day things will change if we keep fighting for our right to LIVE. It’s really not much we ask for: basic humanity.
