First job trying to sabatoge second job

Honestly I’m beginning to get frustrated with companies. I used to love working with people. Now I cry myself to sleep most nights from the overload of stress. Started working work “Company A” in the summer time last year. It was great until they changed managers. Then I was told I wouldn’t be promoted because of the color of my skin and because I’m not family. It lead to getting in trouble for contacting HR. Being told I’m not allowed to contact HR without approval first. Being scolded for things that were not my fault and being accused of things I didn’t do. Most recently I was accused of not stocking the products after working alone on a super busy night. But when I stood my ground and insisted I did their story changed to it only being a couple things not done. Google reviews on this company aren’t looking…

$15/hr isn’t enough.

…at least, not in my city. I’m working at $15.25/hr, and rent in the stinkiest room imaginable is just barely manageable for me (side note: my friend rents a “private room” for $875/mo, and there are actual prison cells that are larger). Once utilities and basic living expenses (food, phone plan, medications, etc.) are factored in, I will not be bringing in enough income to support myself. The only way I’ll be able to live here is if my family helps to foot the bill, and for a lot of reasons that is something I am not thrilled about. I’m really tired of people saying I could benefit from “financial literacy” seminars and “saving a little more from paychecks.” I’m already literate. I need enough money to sustain myself as a human being. I don’t know, I’m just really frustrated right now. Obviously people shouldn’t have to work in order…

Got an insultingly low offer from someone that knows better.

I read the horror stories here every day and feel fortunate that I have not experienced a lot of what I see here. Today though I got a ridiculous offer… I get an email from Indeed on behalf of someone looking to hire me. This company does a lot of contracting work with my current company and I work with them often. As I read the details I notice that they are offering me significantly less than what I currently make. This person is well aware of what someone at my position makes and is looking to hire me so that I can help them get my current company's business, potentially worth millions and all these people care to offer is less than what my starting salary was four years ago. If this had been on the phone I would have laughed, luckily Indeed makes it easy to be polite…

You make less than minimum wage when you don’t turn in equipment?

I quit my toxic job with a vicious email and a walkout, so I expected some annoyances when I left. I left my company laptop (a 5-year old Chromebook, valued less than $300) and badge on the desk of the head manager, wrote that in my email, and got tf out. Fast forward to yesterday, my final paycheck was 1/3 of what it should be. I check into it and… My rate was listed at 1/3 of my actual rate and less than minimum wage for my area. I reached out to HR and basically said this needs to be resolved or they will hear next from my lawyer. Somehow, MULTIPLE people in this company told me it was due to my equipment not being returned. Um. What? Over $800 was missing from my check because of this, and that makes absolutely no sense… They also made it clear that…

One of my dads old work colleagues passed away and sent me his obituary…

I didn’t know this man but my father worked with him for many years. Something got to me after I read his obituary. In it they mentioned this man’s family he was leaving behind and his job. That’s it. This man was 66 years old. I don’t know how he passed away. Whoever wrote this obituary either did not know enough about him or his entire life outside of family was his job. His legacy written in the newspaper was his almost 40 years of blue collar service for a company. No hobbies, no notes about his personality or anything. My dad left this company years ago but still put in a solid decade there. He continued to work blue collar gigs until he was injured on the job leading to disability. He gets on me about getting a job with a pension or whatever and I understand that he…
