No one made the conscious choice to be born and to which parents or environment. All individuals deserve the basic right of access to water, food and shelter. We have more than enough empty apartments and buildings to house the homeless twice over. If you want something nicer than the default essentials, that's where the motivation to work and put in hours should come from. Work should feel productive, let you feel as if you actually have upwards mobility and MEAN something. Not just something to endure to barely survive a month
Insane ads for some recruiting service
“The Beyond Employment Model”
Every remote job posting: 400-500 applicants (posted today) In person posting: 35 applicants (posted 30+ days ago) I'm a little frustrated that's all, lol. Commute into the city (where all the jobs are) is 30 minutes on the weekend and 1.5 hours in rush hour. We really need to get paid for the commute. And encourage WFH so there are fewer people on the road.
Update: I got a 2.2% raise
My original post got very little traction but I don’t care. I’m so fucking excited. I accepted an offer today and increased my base by 53%. 53 fucking percent. My new job is fully remote so I’m going to move to a cheaper area and lower my cost of living so I’m finally not poor. Moral of the story: know your worth, people. Don’t let these big companies tell you otherwise. original post
