I posted here a pit of months ago complaining because I had 14 days of work shoved down my throat without any kind of break in between. Many of you told me to quit at once and I didn’t listen but in my defense it was worth the wait. So to summarize I work in security for a high end complex and our supervisor is not the best person in terms of temper control and attitude, something that has been voiced for years now from security and maintenance employees. She insulted and yelled at one of the security guards who told her to get scuffed and quit on the spot, this leaves the supervisor, one more girl and me in the security team, at least till today when I got the offer letter for a company in IT. It’s surreal, double what I make an hour right now, full benefits, unionized and it’s…
How are people this dumb?
My company has been remote for the last two years, and just like many others here, they are now forcing everyone back into the office. I've been a musician for a number of years, and yet haven't been able to pursue it fully while working full time. That being said, I still had time since I was remote. A few weeks back they have started to end remote work (even after record profits) in favor of slowly dragging everyone back into the office. Music isn't just my passion but my ultimate goal to make a living, and while I don't think I'll ever be some huge artist, I enjoy making folk/indie styled music. So I decided to take a chance on myself and leave my position. I'm just a little folk artist, but it's nice to look into the mirror today, and feel secure that I'm doing what is right…
So the city I live in has become super expensive over the years, I'm paying $1200 for a shitty basement apartment (cheapest offer I got), and I've been struggling to make rent. My pay is $15 an hour and I've been overworking myself like hell, I had 2 days off in February and I am still struggling to make it in this awful city. My mental health is going to shit because of it, I hate it here and might end up being evicted soon. It sucks. I'm 18 and I live on my own (have since I was 16) and I'm still trying to graduate highschool but I have no time for school since I work so much I can't make time for it either or else I won't be able to pay my rent. I have nowhere to go and I'm stuck in the shitter because of the…
15 an hour isnt livable
Dems or whatever political factions on the ground kevel with some connections need to start updating the minimum wage fight. I remember we were fighting for 15 an hour in 2016 and its 2022 and inflation is 16% higher than minimum wage. This actually doesn't make sense and we will be in the same exact spot in a few months and all our leaders will say is we are greedy

If you work full time, litterally doing anything being anywhere, you deserve to afford rent. You deserve to afford food, and vacations too. You deserve to have enough to save up on the side to retire. It saddens me the hustler mentality fights against declining purchasing power by just working harder, instead of fixing the core issue which is money is being funneled from the working class. Don't be afraid to unionize. Don't be afraid to stick up for yourself and others.
How is that immediately from the time workplaces were shutdown due to covid restrictions to the beginnings of the Great Resignation that every petty little or large workplace started putting up, the same exact statements that all read something similar to: Please be patient with the workers who chose to show up to work today. Due to government handouts nobody wants to work anymore. How are we all falling for this hook, line and sinker? It’s propaganda. Every workplace that has these signs up have either the same exact wording, or the same exact phrases, the same points of calling out unemployment insurance (which is EARNED btw) and calling workers lazy rather than the truth: Workers are grossly unpaid. The situation has become worse since inflation and corporate greed have worked in tandem to make everything unaffordable. People are quitting in droves because if it’s more expensive to drive to…
For the last 6 years I’ve been in corporate tech in America. Currently I am an account engineer for an enterprise level tech company. I make about 120k a year at the minimum. When the markets are good I make about 140k-150k annually. Apparently society values me but my job is literally pointless. Today I just sat in a zoom meeting while one of the c-level team at Tinder(one of the clients of my company) screamed abuse at us for 20 minutes straight because we took too long to solve an issue “that MIGHT have lost them money had it been worse”. We’re all working adults with our own problems to deal with but we are all cUsToMEr SeRViCE pROfesSIonals so we just sit back, take the abuse and disassociate like how us millennials do best. After this Tinder exec finishes tantruming like a child, I lean back from my…
