I'm not some green fresh out of college guy anymore. With 8+ years in various stages of construction to maintenance of wind turbines I have a decent set if skills. Yet it amazes me the few offers I've had this year are less than what I started for and even less when inflation is considered. Base pay for heavy industries should now be 30 and up. Anyone offering 18 an hour (which did come up) for general heavy industries is just to insulting potential employees.

How to Ruin Your Hobby
Short time reader, first time poster.
Got a raise last week. A whole $1/hr. So now I make $16/hr. Wendy’s down the road starts out at 17/hr, mind you. And I worked in a warehouse with building materials (aluminum gutter, vinyl siding, hardie board, etc.) Every time I brought up a problem they replied with, “why you always complaining? or “you complain so much.” So I stopped complaining. Branch manager text me last Tuesday at 10:15PM. (He knows I wake up at 4:50AM to be at my job at 6.) I never answered his text, 1) don’t text me at 10PM. B) I don’t want to go to lunch with him. III) I don’t have his number saved. Monday and yesterday he tries to guilt trip me about not answering. “You’re breaking my heart not wanting to go to lunch with me!” (Out loud in front of my coworkers and customers) and I say, “yeah. We…
I was talking about this with someone I know and wanted to know what others think. Edit: not talking about the ppl who work at your local bank branches, more like investment bankers and whatnot
Those posters that right-wing business owners keep putting up because they don't want to pay a living wage? Does anyone else find it weird that it's almost the exact same fucking script on all of them? Stinks of astroturf. Is some connservative business group giving all these small businesses the same lil pathetic script to put up?
Shoutout brisbane folk, hope you’ve all done ok in these floods. So I live in Brisbane, Australia and right now, at 7am, there’s currently a thunderstorm and this is on the back of already having floods that have disrupted a lot of homes earlier in the week. Public transport was closed, roads cut off, you name it we got it. Now, I may sound a bit privileged, but my home faired ok. But because I live in the city, I don’t have a car. I usually take said public transport which is now open on a limited capacity. Public transport is still a 10 minute walk away and if you didn’t see already – it’s S T O R M I N G. The company I work for is one of the most successful of its kind and yet cannot buy use portable equipment that we can safely WFH with.…
