Those posters that right-wing business owners keep putting up because they don't want to pay a living wage? Does anyone else find it weird that it's almost the exact same fucking script on all of them? Stinks of astroturf. Is some connservative business group giving all these small businesses the same lil pathetic script to put up?

Shoutout brisbane folk, hope you’ve all done ok in these floods. So I live in Brisbane, Australia and right now, at 7am, there’s currently a thunderstorm and this is on the back of already having floods that have disrupted a lot of homes earlier in the week. Public transport was closed, roads cut off, you name it we got it. Now, I may sound a bit privileged, but my home faired ok. But because I live in the city, I don’t have a car. I usually take said public transport which is now open on a limited capacity. Public transport is still a 10 minute walk away and if you didn’t see already – it’s S T O R M I N G. The company I work for is one of the most successful of its kind and yet cannot buy use portable equipment that we can safely WFH with.…

I started working at a long term care facilty at the beginning of the year, after going there through a temp agency for a number of months. I was fired from there today for posting my wage rate at the time clock in response to a fiasco prior. I was asked to work last Thursday, and was told double time was being offered for the shift. I agreed, worked it, everything was fine, or so I thought. I get a text message from my supervisor Friday telling me to put in a request in the system for my double time, I thanked here, and figured that I would do it on my next shift, Tuesday. Tuesday comes, I do the thing im supposed to, let her now I put in the request, to which I am told I am disqualified from double time now, because of a policy the company…

I'm taking a new job at a local bar/theater kind of place and they're offering me 5$ an hour plus tips I realize I can probably make quite a bit of money per hour without the hourly pay but something rubs me the wrong way with any business that doesn't pay more than 10$ an hour I start tomorrow but I'm considering asking management if I can go up to at least minimum wage which is 7.25$ in my state, Texas Tickets per person to see this show are over 150$ and there's hundreds of people a night I don't see why they can't properly pay their bar staff like they do other employees They are pretty desperately hiring as well so I don't see why I wouldn't have some bargaining power as well Do y'all have any tips for asking for a raise as well?

Edit: I think I am misremembering… I think a post about how their glassdoor review was identified merged with this concept.. Anyway, sorry to alarm people, from what has been commented, unless ur resume is public they won't know I'm going to leave soon no matter what so this isn't a big deal but I swear I saw posts on here about how employers could tell employees were using indeed / glassdoor. I just want to casually browse without fear of my manager knowing.. she uses indeed because they are actively hiring. Tips?

Small rant… In the past 2 years, gas prices where I am have doubled. House costs have doubled or tripled. Vehicles have doubled in price. The same groceries cost almost twice the amount they did prior to 2020. Inflation is going up rapidly. What hasn’t changed, is the fact that a 2% annual raise is considered generous (which most people don’t even get). Also what hasn’t changed is average annual incomes. Just everything around them has gone up. Taxes, cost of living, etc. Seriously what the fuck is going on?
