So far today, I’ve received 7 text messages and 3 emails from boss about open shifts. This is a daily occurrence. It’s extremely annoying. If I wanted to pick up a shift, I would look at the schedule and then contact. It’s honestly anger inducing how many texts and emails I get daily
Back in the office
First day Back in the office 3 days a week after working from home for 2 years. Been dreading this and even more now that gas prices are going up. This is so stupid!
As much as I do hold values like how work shouldn't be the most important thing, how the workweek is too long to really let people work in healthy ways and research continuously supports that, I obviously can't always put that into practice. After spending years trying to get into an “alternative” industry (which I've learned basically means “you're trading in a 9-5 for a 24/7”), I've learned that going into it would basically ruin my mental health. It's the kind of thing where people say it takes them anywhere between 5-10 years just to get in, only to be majorly overworked. I remember I was told by a major industry leader in a talk from school that “most people leave the industry by the time they're 30 due to burnout”. I'm now watching my friends who I study with get jobs, and hate every second of it. None of…

Employers Underpaying Wages “In Error”
Just got my payslip and it's a few hundred euro short. This seems to happen every so often with employers… Why is it you never get overpaid by mistake?
Gas price inflation solution
If gas prices are going up due to war and sanctions, we should keep pushing employers to let us stay/go back working from home.
i work at a car wash and every night i pressure wash the car wash tunnel to get all the dirt out of the ground. since i was pressure washing i was looking at the ground and focusing my attention to the ground. i do this every shift, i had my head phones in and i was working fine. my manager decided to start cleaning the equipment that was located directly above me and so she got a ladder and started spraying CLR at the equipment without notifying me that she would be spraying chemicals right above me. i didnt notice she was there since my focus was on the ground. but i started smelling something and i looked up and got CLR mist all in my eyes. i stopped what i was doing and took about 20 minutes rinsing my eyes. right after i stopped rinsing my eyes my…
First, let me say I do believe in being fair, and not just pointing out negatives. My company hires people for a manufacturing job with no experience. All you need is a clean record, five years of general work experience, and to pass a drug test. They start employees out at 19K more than the average per capita income for the city we're in, and 5k more than the average per capita income for the entire state. You move up steps for the next three years, and by year four you hit top, which is about $6 more than starting pay. So the pay isn't terrible, credit where credit is due. That said, the company announced a record profit for last year. Total sales up 36%. This is DESPITE Covid, and DESPITE that September, because of the supply chain issues, our company temporarily laid off 300 employees (again, credit where…
