Standing up for myself tomorrow
I've worked in this deli for almost 5 years now. Started as a dishwasher and made my way to manager. I've loved it for a long time, just an independently run shop in a small town but the owner paid decently and treated the staff well. He took care of us during covid as best he could. Recently I was replaced as manager. I understood why, I've never been a manager before and was really struggling to keep everything together. My wage did not change and I was meant to be included in any decisions the new boss might make. For a tiny bit of context, this is a small very conservative town in far north Idaho. However, the deli was an oasis for me, I'm a young trans guy and several of my crew are trans or nonbinary. A few of them use they/them pronouns and everyone respects that.…
My interview nightmare from today
So yesterday (Sunday, which is weird) I got a call from a dentist’s office I’d applied to for a receptionist position. He liked what he saw on my resume, and wanted to interview me. We talked for a bit, and set up an interview for today (Monday 2/28) at 10:30am. This morning I had a funny feeling about the interview. That nagging little voice whispering that something is wrong, don’t bother. I chose to ignore the little voice, figuring it was just pre-interview jitters. I got myself dressed nicely, and made the 30 minute drive to the dental office. Pulling into the parking lot, the office looked dark. Funny, but I guess they have tinted windows. I go in, and the office is dark. The nurse at the desk has no idea who I am, or why I’m there. The dentist (who was supposed to be interviewing me)was not in.…
Nyc villain
Just had a job interview with the individual who would be “the boss” for the position I was interviewing for. I immediately revoked my application afterward, as these are a few red flags that came out of the interviewer (again, the boss)'s mouth: “People have told me I can be very controlling.” “I spend more time at work than with my children.” “The previous person in this role left after 1 year.” There were many more major red flags, but these were the top 3. Remember folks, you're interviewing them just as much, if not MORE than they're interviewing you.
Harassed at work for being gay.
Simple. My coworker and I are both members of the LGBTQ community. We are both therapist. We had an office staff come up to us to “speak her truth” about how she feels about us which is that we will be condemned by God for our choices and it was no different than any other sin such a stealing from a coworkers purse which she wouldn’t do. Staff member talked for about 10 minutes about how it’s wrong and we will have to face god one day. She’s currently on suspension but we both received a call today by HR asking how to fix this as in how can we work in harmony with each other. I said I can’t, this was discrimination, it makes me worried for myself, coworkers and clients. I’m so mad because it seems like they will let her return. My coworker states he will be…
Target raises its minimum wage to as much as $24 an hour https://www.cbsnews.com/news/target-minimum-wage-2022/ Minimum wage is the least amount of wages per hour, if there's someone getting paid by Target for less than $24/hr then $24/hr isn't the minimum.
