Should you or should you not give two weeks notice to a crappy ass job? How often do people get fired when they put in there two weeks? I need that last paycheck!
Billionaire habits.
If any of you have been to Quora lately, I would sometimes see these billionaire habits inspirational posts. Basically, in order to become a billionaire all one must have to do is: wake up at 4am, work 80 to 100 hour weeks, read hundreds of books, sleep for 8 hours, etc. I mean if it were that easy to be a billionaire I would be one right now since I do most of that stuff anyway. Anyone else find these tips to be complete BS?
I have a lot of emotional issues and self esteem issues that have been compounded immensely by years and years and years of workplace struggle and pain of trying to survive in this system. I have done therapy with a therapist but am wondering about self led group therapy where we can try to UNLEARN beliefs of unworthiness and weakness that traumatic experiences in the work force have caused in many of us. Some of us have been affected by unfair job loss and consequent homelessness, workplace bullying, psychological gaslighting from our bosses and even from family members regarding our perception of how things are, of how we are exploited. Of how completely unsustainable and inhumane things are economically in regards to housing and wages. I am hoping it could be a place not just to vent but to find solutions back to a place of strength. People will only…
I have been searching for a full-time position since I graduated in May. I’ve had some job interviews but no real success until I was offered a job in early January. This job required a security clearance, which I was told would take 3-5 months. Because of this, I planned my life around going into the office at the end of March or early April. During the clearance process, I frequently was tasked with filling out paperwork or mailing documents with one-day turnovers. The woman I was in correspondence with would email me at the end of her workday expecting something the next day (including Saturdays) and would be unavailable until morning or Monday for questions. While I respect her right to do this, she was forcing me to spend my nights doing paperwork for free with no notice. And I won’t even get into the conflicting emails and poor…
Should I report my (ex) company?
I recently left my job at a very, very large insurance company. Prior to quitting, I had filed a complaint with HR about the company removing confirmed OT hours from employees. Should I also report to the dept of labor? Will it even be taken seriously or will I look like a jilted former employee?
For context, I am a transport planner for a medium sized logistics company in the UK. I have been with the company a year and a half. Hired initially as admin staff (I have previous planning experience for a role I was made redundant in at the start of the pandemic), then moved into planning. I was working up to getting the national average salary for a transport planner, aiming for around this time to ask for that increase. About a month and a half ago I was told I would need to do the container planning going forward. No big deal, the guy who runs that side of the business is sound. The 1st day I turn up for the new role within the business, I find out that the guy who runs it is leaving for a new job (better money, far better working conditions etc) so I…
