Possibility of ‘ghosting’ my employer

Seeking help! I am considering this option as I have mild-moderate anxiety and the thought of handing in a resignation to my employer is making me feel Ill. That and the combination of the management being total douches and would attempt to decline my resignation like they have done to some of my previous co-workers. I am technically full time yet I have never signed a contract stating that I am and my roster is sent to me via texts on a daily basis. With that in mind would it be viable for me to call HR/payroll, state my name and resignation and subsequently block all phone numbers work could contact me on and begin with my new job or could this potentially backfire? Thanks

What’s your worst job interview experience?

I once interviewed for a graphic designer position at a place that mainly bought and sold gold and silver but was looking to expand into advertising. (Should have been my first red flag, right?) I walked in and the guy held up a stack of “resumes” and squawked, “So why should I hire you?” I gave him an answer he liked so he took me to a different room where he sat on a high stool and sat me in a low chair. I can’t make this shit up. I was literally looking up at him. The thing that really bothered me was he didn’t even open my design portfolio to see what I could do. He called me later that same day and offered me the job which I declined. He actually said, “Are you scared?” in response. If I hadn’t been so young I would have told him…

Life consists of mostly working or sleeping but I’m still broke and tired

Hello all, I find myself in a bit of a fix in terms of work. My company is going under, and is looking to scan people out of their redundancy pay using every legal method at their disposal. This had me start pondering about the unfairness of it all (I may just be a snowflake complaining away, if so feel free to let me know). My firm belief is that if you're willing to work hard and conscientiously you're to be rewarded for that effort. Instead where I find myself is taking more and more responsibility without being paid for it. Furthermore I got my degree a few year ago ( I'm 25yo) but things just aren't looking great in terms of prospects. At this point in my life I sometimes feel afraid for the future. If anyone has any advice or something to add, I'll take on board. Thank…

Got told I was paid to work not go to the toilet

Went to the toilet ONCE during my 7 hour shift, while the store wasn’t busy. Told someone I was going to the toilet just so they know where I am. I was on my period so I was taking a wee bit longer than usual but I hear someone walking towards the bathroom but not leaving. Gut instinct tells me it’s my boss. It was, she waits for me to leave the toilets and says to me that I’m being paid to work and be on the shop floor. Not to go to the toilet, I should be going on my breaks. Also, I am wasting time by doing this when I should be working. Some people don’t get breaks, they don’t get to go to the toilet? I’m on my period I’m not gonna bleed through my pants for work. If I need the toilet I’m gonna mf go.…

Should I stay, or should I go now?

So, friends… It's been a pretty crazy 6 months at my most recent job, and I'm trying to figure out whether or not I should keep working here even with nothing lined up. The conditions at my place of employment are deplorable, in my professional opinion, including expectations to work 12+hours per shift, work a 6th day, or pick up an extra shift from someone whenever there's a call out kind of thing. As nonspecifically as possible, I work for a large catering service that provides meals for a “transportation” service. We produce meals by the thousands and have a very small staff for how much we make. Someone higher up than me also walked out a while back and left a lot of responsibilities floating in the wind that they expect someone to cover. I had a couple meetings with senior Management and they didn't go very well, asking…

I guess I’m a bad employee for not foreseeing being flooded in?

So my first real day for work starts tomorrow however I am completely flooded in due to the on going rain in my area (I live in Qld, Australia). So I called up so they could have a good amount of notice to find a replacement. All I got was a passive aggressive phone call that ended with being hung up on. There's alot wrong with the company as I previously worked there and I ONLY came back for the money. Feels like home I guess being constantly met with a bad attitude, really missed it and looking forward to being back!

I’m 37, and I quit a min wage job today because I finally, FINALLY, told myself I don’t have to be treated this poorly. I have this sub to thank

I’ve had about 16 different jobs in my life, varying greatly from Disneyland, retail, sex shop, costume store, makeup artist, and hotels (to name a few lol). So I’ve had a lot of experience with different types of coworkers, customers and managers. I’ve only had one great manager, a few whatevers but mostly I end up having the lying, manipulative, work first live last, you shouldn’t be here if its only for the paycheck, type of assholes that don’t respect their workers. I’ve always thought it was just my bad luck finding jobs with these horrible bosses, but reading so many posts on here about others awful experiences I realized it wasn’t my bad luck, its just how most managers are. This depressed me for a while as my hope of finding a job with a respectful manager seemed impossible. Pre-covid I worked at a 5star, very high end luxury…
