Current state of an European country in laboral matter

Hey, I'm spanish and currently studying a degree in something related to laboral and work law in the country. I think it would be interesting for anyone here reading this to know how is it going here and compare it with their own countries. Sorry for any spelling mistakes that could be in the following wall of text, I'm confident I can write everything I want to say in english but there could be some mistakes or misspellings that I hope won't ruin the reading. As a disclaimer: I'm not writting this as a way to tell you how bad is your country and how well are we doing here, this is not targeted to americans but to fellow europeans too. Salary: -Minimum wage recently increased from 13.510€ to 14.000€ (anual) -Salaries in spain are usually paid monthly, with a minimum per day, and we recieve at least 2…

Is there not an incentive to keep people in a position where they only get paid a fraction of the value they produce?

From what I understand, it’s widely accepted that whether you’re an employee or an employer comes down to your personality, your risk tolerance etc. So what this means if I continue with this train of thought is that there’s a personality that rises to the top and if you don’t have it then… well why would you want to take risk in the first place? Because massive risks, massive rewards. Why might you want massive rewards? Because you want a lot of experiences out of life, and to be able to be the executive director of your life, the party host, so instead of just “wishing” to be rich as an employee might do, you truly wanted to, so you went the entrepreneurial route, became a “job provider/creator” which makes you sound so sweet, but what you were really trying to do is enjoy your own party. You hire a…

Did you know federal workers have a $15 minimum wage? There are “two” federal minimum wages.

I'll start by saying that either wage is far too low and don't hate on the low wage federal employees, it's our leaders that deserve the criticism. I found this out the other day. Its interesting that $15 is felt necessary as the bottom line when you're working directly for our government, wheather your working in a government funded coffee shop as a barista or as a janitor. I wonder why the rest of the nation isn't as important, you know, the “other” federal minimum wage earners. Don't forget about the great (in comparison to the usual nothing) benefits that come along with federal employment, theyre considered a necessary baseline as well.

What are some unnecessary rules at your workplace that you think should be done away with for good?

Some of the rules that I've had at certain workplaces that I think were incredibly stupid: Must have tattoos covered up (I've always thought this was a dumb rule, stopping people from expressing themselves just because some old farts think all people with tattoos are criminals) No listening to music even with one headphone in (again a stupid rule, it's actually been proven people are more productive if they get to listen to their own music that calms them and makes them focus) Must wear a full suit and tie even though you don't see or face any customers in the role (making people wear uncomfortable clothing for 8 hours a day without any good reason)

I’m tired of small business owners thinking they have it harder than others

Okay, some background first: I work as a doctor (general practitioner) in a small rural village of about 3000 people. So you pretty much get to know most people rather quickly. Due to nature of my job, I see people when they are down and in need of help. It is not uncommon to hear all kinds of things about my patients life. Unsurprisingly work is one of the most common sources of stress for most people. The fear of losing a job or missing a pay check due to an illness is something I see almost daily. But there is one interesting trend I have noticed. When a small business owner gets sick and comes to my office, they have this tendency to REALLY make a big deal how everything will now crumble without them. I have heard numerous times how “salaried people just cant understand how hard it…
