I’m a former Disney World employee. I was “let go” because I refused to be sick and near make-a-wish children.

This happened in 2015, so a long time before the pandemic and I realize things have changed- but as someone who truly loved the company up until then, that’s what showed me the company didn’t care about anything besides money. I’m keeping the details general, but I was an intern who had strep throat. I had “points” against me for calling out for this, and was told if I didn’t come in I’d have enough points against me that they’d have to let me go. I told them I was still contagious and I couldn’t as I worked directly with make a wish children. They said that didn’t change the point system. This was a call-in call out service so I wasn’t talking directly to my bosses. I actually never got to see them again as once I officially had enough points against me I was given 24 hours to…

I got fired for doing my job

I worked at a dispensary and caught someone on my last shift with a third party purchase. Wasn’t too happy with the situation as I could have lost my license but I did my job. Today, I come in for my shift and my manager tells me they have to let me go because that same customer came into complain about me. Since they let me go, I called them out for shit as things weren’t communicated with the staff, morale was low and our owner tried to enforce a uniform rule who said “if staff don’t like, find another job”

Even doctors hate their jobs. More than 1 in 4 anesthesiologists are clinically depressed, almost half “burned out”. Similar numbers in other specialties.

Even if the job seems nice, eventually it sucks

I recently just quit my job as a call center banker. Everything about the job was actually pretty good. Decent pay, work from home, nice manager. It was all good until they gave me a promotion pretty fast. Then I realized I was trapped. The new trainer was rude and the raise was only .75(promised a dollar btw). After that the job got twice as hard with barely any pay increase. I asked if I could move back to my old position but they said I couldn’t. Every call was demeaning and humiliating. I had to leave which sucked because the positives of the job were still there, they just didn’t outweigh the negative anymore. I have worked since I was 16 and mostly in retail. I just can’t do it anymore. I like working with people, not being berated for doing my job. Plus I realize now that the…

3 months advance notice for a 3 day vacation

I notified my manager 3 months ahead of time for a small vacation I have planned that I would need 3 days off for. They explained someone else has the whole week off and that they do not approve two people off at the same time, but will discuss this tomorrow. Any advice on what to do? I’m not canceling my measly 3 day trip because they will be slightly short staffed. They can call over from other locations to get help and it’s not like there’s only 1 person working at all times.

How do y’all find the motivation to find jobs?

I mean this in the most serious way; I’m applying for jobs right now but I’m really not good at interviews because I just can’t fake that I have the motivation for life or a want to work when I know it’s all pointless anyways. Like how do you guys sell yourself during interviews knowing that you don’t want to work if it’s all pointless? I really don’t understand how people do it, I personally just have the hardest time selling myself or making myself believe in something I know isn’t true. Like when it’s “Why do you want to work here?” I honestly don’t. I don’t want to be underpaid since I live in one of the most expensive places in the US and I’m being offered $17. I don’t want to go home exhausted. I don’t want to pretend like I’m happy whenever I go into work and…

I’m sure this is a repost but worth revisiting. Spanish civil servant skips work for 6 years, and no one notices

Got to love work.

Recently I had a interview for a higher position in my company, I did not get the promotion as they said I was not the right fit for it. Later on was told by my boss that I did not get the promotion because in part of the interview I said that my family comes first, Like WTF. FYI this is a family run company and we treat they're employees as such (like f they do). Well f@#k them I'm off after hearing this.
