So today I notified my employer that I will no longer be working for this company in 5 weeks. I felt like that was the least I could do considering how well they have treated me as an employee and just a human being in general. I have a pretty specialized job, that the company is having a hard time filling due to their lack of desire to pay what my skills are worth. I found a company that will pay what my skills are worth (50k raise) and had to take it. I've stuck with this company through thick and thin, listend to their “work is like family” and given them the last 12 years of my life. Just to be told to empty my desk and remove myself from company property immediately. No attempt at a counter-offer, no attempt to get me to stay for an increase in…
I've been dealing with a nightmare of HR lady at work for the last year. She's done anything and everything to single me out, harass me, and make my life hell at work. I'll be quitting tomorrow, and this will be my chance for some get back before I walk out. It can't be anything illegal; I'm not giving her the chance to call the cops on me. Do you have some ideas?
Texas State Employees Union has begun enrolling service members on state active duty in Texas after the DOJ recently said in a court filing that a federal law prohibiting military unions does not apply to soldiers on state active duty. To our knowledge, this is the first time in american history that a union has enrolled service members in their military capacities. This comes after thousands of soldiers were involuntarily activated by Gov. Greg Abbott for Texas' border mission, Operation Lone Star. In addition to a string of recent suicides, soldiers on the mission have complained of poor living conditions, pay issues, equipment shortages, reduced benifits, and political motivations for their activation. Update: Texted my bosses boss
I work alone as a salaried employee. My coworkers at the sister office said I can go home when there’s no more work at the office I’ll be at. Wanted word from my boss who told me that when work is done, ask if anyone in the office needs help and if not then I’m good to go. Today, I got done before noon. There were no more appointments, no help needed, so I left. I told the front desk I was heading out. I got a call just now that the front desk needed me because some work showed up. I told them I left for the day because the schedule was cleared. They said no worries, they’ll schedule the work for another office location. And then my boss called. An office manager lit her up because there was nobody there to do the work. My boss then asked…
I have been working for a small business in a technical field since graduating from college about 4 years ago. The business I work for is small, I was their first employee, and am currently one of four. Over the holidays and start of the new year I began chatting with colleagues from other, larger businesses in the industry about salary, since I don’t have a peer group to discuss this with at my workplace. Ultimately, I discovered I am getting paid significantly less than my peer group, by around $15,000-20,000, and I do not get paid overtime like they do. Initially I was taken aback, and tried to rationalize that the circumstances are different since the company I work for is so small. After many long chats with family and friends, I know my work experience and time is valuable and I deserve to be compensated as such. So…
