I’ve had this job about a year, it’s my first full time corporate job and I hated it ever since I got hired to be honest. But I was still grateful for the opportunity, I can’t complain about the work environment because I appreciate how my boss has structured a flexible and understanding work/life balance – however it’s just the actual work that I find draining and pointless. For the past 6ish months I’ve been applying to jobs and toying with the idea of just quitting, until this week I finally told my boss that I don’t think I’m a good fit for the role and that it doesn’t align with my career goals anymore so I’ll be working until they find my replacement – which will probably take around 2-3 more weeks. I also have a freelancing job that I’ve been doing on the weekends alongside the office job,…

Anyone in this thread works in Wall Street, New York and makes less than 50,000 a year? Management expect their employees to live off that..what a joke. Lets all share experiences..anything you want to know just ask
Cafeteria workers at the World Bank are picketing today for a $20 minimum wage. Half of surveyed members can't afford food, and a quarter reported skipping meals.https://t.co/cH0ApQ2NYo— DCist (@DCist) April 12, 2023
I worked January – End of March at a company. I was on Salary and get 2 weeks of paid vacation a year. I took one week already. Am I owed anything if I only worked 3 months of the year? Now working at a new company.
just a rant lol
i’m an artist (in theory) and that’s what i love doing the most. like many others, i have two jobs to support myself while doing commissions on the side- yet i haven’t made any artwork in 3 months. i haven’t had the energy or the time to sit down and paint or embroider. when i have a day off i have to spend it running errands or catching up on chores. i’m autistic and it’s hard enough to not feel overwhelmed by a load of laundry. art is supposed to be my outlet. it just makes me sad. there is a void in me that art fills and i can’t make anything. i’m not looking for advise and please don’t tell me to “make time” for my art. if i could i would.
Hey guys! New to the sub ~ Regardless of my opinion on the matter, I think it’s clear that AI will replace first white collar jobs, then to blue collar jobs through advancements in AI robotics, then trickle down to where humanity is negligible in terms of its progression. This will be unprecedented where we are ousted as a useful species. I want to hear your opinion. How / where will you find meaning in life? Do you feel democracy is threatened? Are you concerned about corporation overlords who control the tech possibly not having your best interest? Etc etc
Plan to Unionize my Job

My coworker was hired years ago and yet has only been given one real raise. So as a supervisor I deigned to get him his much deserved raise. He signed for it in January, backdated to Decmeber but never saw the raise. Despite having signed for it and having no reprimands to take it away week after week he'd never get a definitive response on the state of his raise. Eventually this week he got his answer. The president flat out just said no the raise. Without any…
