trying to make your voice known
Hello everyone! I'm currently a university students and am trying to publish a paper that shows how your engagement can be affected by the sort of person your manager is. If you could fill out this 2 min questionnaire then i have primary statistics i can use to put some weights on my words. https://forms.gle/msjVWCECiVehRRz29 Needless to say, i'm not paid in anyway to do this (Directly or indirectly.) However it is something i want to spread more awareness on.
My employer said for me to use my sick pay for time that his store was closed. Is that illegal ? Plus in California how does the sick pay go? Every year with the company or a new year ?
My boyfriend’s job is screwing him over
My boyfriend works as a department manager at an organic food store. His off days are Sundays and Mondays. This week on Sunday is Easter. Typically, if a holiday is on a scheduled off day you get another day off later in the week, but they’re not giving him this extra day off. However, everyone else who is scheduled to work Sundays is getting that day off as well as their other two days off. This feels extremely unfair that everyone else is getting 3 days off while my boyfriend is stuck with just 2.
I work as a contracted “Security Professional” that has just been promoted to supervisor. The majority of my on-site responsibilities is namely report-writing in regards to the events of my day-to-day site-specific events. Mundane or otherwise, typically our contract's own security team (which is used to oversee ours, giving our Account Lead advice in how to write the rules and training of all on-site personale) tells our Security Team to only report on the most 'uncommon occurrences' such as site-visitors, or site-related crime. They also have the authority to inform our Account Lead what needs to be fixed, adjusted, corrected, etc. I've been informed that my report writing skills are 'inept' because they're “too detailed” for documents legally-binding and on occasion used by local law enforcement for the sake of case-info specific to vehicular incidents (thefts, vandalism, destruction of property, etc). I am to be retrained because I do not…
The story: I'm a near middle aged millennial. I work for a 10k+ employer. I've been there since 2011. I was sexually harassed by a colleague in Sept of last year. Reported it to HR which claims to have “addressed” the situation. However the person is still in their position. Call me crazy, but I'm not comfortable engaging with the person who violated the law, workplace policy, and me & my trust. Thus I get removed from all the meetings, conversations, and opportunities that also involve this person. These are subjects in which I have expertise, experience, and issues I have researched for months. They were part of my job-satisfaction. The response was “No thanks, we got it from here.” I've requested that he or I be removed from the environment and was not obliged. I've asked my direct leadership for help and their only suggestion was to 1) help…
On an assessment for a job I applied for
I switched jobs a while back, opting for a new position with a bunch of fresh work. I kept telling myself that “surely, this company will be different.” NOPE! Welp, y’all just bought work output directly proportionate to a substandard raise.
