Try to keep this short. I am a supervisor / team lead for a very large call center umbrella corporation. Cox, Medicare, HR Block, you name it, we do it. 100,000 + employees globally. As supervisors, we start the year with 132 hours of PTO in the bank. Not bad, considering we only make $17 / hr, this helps make it tolerable. There is often time in between lines of business, so we usually have to use 1-3 weeks of PTO when they are moving us. I used 48 hours in January alone to cover the transition. Cut to 03/02. We get an email. Stating all the PTO balances have, SINCE JANUARY 1st, been grouped into a '35 hour PTO bucket'. So this means, that 63 days AFTER the policy went into effect, we were notified about it. We were informed than anyone who used more than 35 hours of…
I’ll try keep the story short but I’ve previously worked in a school district where it was verbatim in my contract that I had to get my CDL to work in the district. I told that district that I do not feel comfortable driving kids to and from football games/school functions. Essentially if any feet are added to a vehicle I don’t trust myself in those situations. I’ve had two accidents driving extended truck/trailers with band equipment before and tried to explain that to the district. They told me it would be in my best interest to resign or I would face a contract non-renewal (essentially if you’re a teacher and your contract is non-renewed you’re basically unemployable). I did try to obtain my license 3 years consecutively , either failing out of the test and having to start the process over. I couldn’t pass and yes I did eventually…
He’s a boomer who hated his job for 40 years Also, I guess I haven’t found the right job then? LOL is this actually a thing or?
I work in public accounting where busy seasons can be 60-80 hour work weeks with no overtime, just your usual salaried pay. I don’t know why people flex being overworked and underpaid as some sort of status symbol. Work reform would be great.
As the title says. I’m sick, have been all week. I’ll get fired if I don’t show up for my scheduled shifts and my boss is actually going to try and force me to work more hours this week too because I dared to take off a day for being sick as a dog. I have a fever, severe cough, and I already passed out once today. Not going great so far. Just threw up too almost in front of patrons and I can feel it coming back again. I told my boss I might need to leave so can she please find someone to cover for me. She just smacked her lips and gave me a sassy remark about how this generation won’t work and always wants to leave and stay home and apparently this is a habit for me now….. Yikes…big yikes.
Need this for work
Sorry, not sorry.
I was going to work today but…
I've been self employed for 7 years, 5 of those years I've been plastering and can plaster to a standard that ive been told is pretty high. It's been so long since I've been on paye that I have no idea what questions I should be asking to make sure I don't put myself into a position where I work for a company I hate. What should I be looking out for in a good/bad company?
