I work as a Process Safety Coordinator for a Poultry Company. I am paid hrly. I put in for two half days (4hrs) on a Wed & (4hrs) Thursday. On the following Sunday my boss sent me a text asking if he could take off one of the vacation days to save on OT for the week. I was appalled and explained how messed up it was to even ask. This morning I discovered my check stub only listed one (4hr) vacation day used instead of the two I used. My superiors went ahead and removed the other day even after I expressed disapproval. What do I do? I have the texts. What would be the probable outcome for those involved? What are my options? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. *Feel free to express your feelings about my superiors blatant disrespect for his employee.
Well basically, they installed a camera behind me and thats considered workplace harassment where I live. But I am the only one with a camera and if I report it they will know it was me, help!
Real Costs
Actually if we as a societal workforce push these related costs, perhaps we can harass them enough back into remote work. Think about it… Work uniforms/clothing costs I wonder, could women include make up? Some offices do ask that they are “presentable”, meaning all done up and that stuff costs a lot of money. If you require it, then you should help foot the bill for it. Additionally, there are ethnicities that require professional attention. Namely, blacks hair styling (I'm not criticizing, I think their hair is beautiful), just that they often need to go to the salon or barber and that is an added cost they are accruing, and the business that requires it should help foot the bill. Shoes Women could have a field day with this, but after careful consideration so could men. There are a lot of interesting designer gym shoes being introduced lately, guys and…
Haven’t signed anything
So I've been working at a smoke shop for about 3 weeks and haven't signed any paperwork. I, the manager, and the rest of the employees are being paid in cash. There's 2 people working there, employee and manager, that have been there for over a year and a half and they got checks before. They were even told before that paying in cash would be too difficult but now it's in cash every time. Today I asked my manager if taxes were being taken out of my pay and about signing paperwork that the owner's son said like a week ago that my manager would have me sign. Manager said they weren't told about paperwork, that I would be responsible for my taxes, and they weren't sure what my status there is. I just messaged the owner's son about it since I don't have the owner's number but haven't…
I was just over reading a thread in /r/teachinguk and teachers saying coloured hair and piercings are unprofessional. I have neither so no skin in the game but thought it completely ridiculous and absurd that teachers would think this. In the UK teaching is a micro managed, overworked shitshow so I'm not surprised and the dress code is suited and booted. However I can't wrap my head around why “colour” and individuality is “unprofessional”. The word is really misused, you can have a suited and booted asshole teacher who bullies other teachers and is barely competent but that's ok because they look WASP but another teacher who works hard and is an all round decent person isn't because they have a nose ring or green hair. Complete bullshit.
1 month notice period
I am a recent college graduate looking for remote sales jobs long term but don’t have much sales experience. In the meantime I have been working as a babysitter. This is because I get paid slightly more than other jobs. However, even if i worked 40 hours without time off I would still fall below the poverty line. I am in an unhealthy living situation so it’s important that I try to save up money even if it isn’t much. The new babysitting job I interviewed with wants me to sign a contract with a 1 month notice period if i quit but doesn’t state any penalties on paper (i live in an at will state). The reality is I’m not going to find another job that pays this much unless it’s another babysitting job and it’s very easy to get your time wasted in interviews. My question is, will…
$15 an hour here is unskilled labor poverty wage. PRIVE YOUR WORTH, PEASANT
I posted this in the advice subreddit but I feel like I could get some good insight here. If this isn't allowed I'm sorry. My (29F) job isn't great, it's a food service job. It's average as far as the work goes. Understaffed, the whole shabang. I left my old job for this one over a year ago (on good terms, but the job had a lot of issues with higher ups that came to a head recently. I definitely needed to get out when I did.) I was working both jobs at the time and my current boss offered me the wage I was basically making between the two if I just worked for him full time. Sick. The job has a lot of practices that are shady, but I need that money right? The boss takes care of us a lot though. I have to overlook a lot…
Is it worse that they can’t spell “yourself”?
