I'm a software engineer who hates 'work'. If anyone has got a job (something like data entry) where part of it or all of it could be easily automated, let me know the details of your job and I'd like to see if I can help you automate it and reduce your workload so you can spend less time working and more time living life. The more details, the easier it will be for me to help you out.
Worked 2 years straight through this pandemic as a registered nurse, and just beginning 2022, I myself tested positive for covid. Unable to work, my employer then dropped my health insurance because I didn't get enough hours in the pay period because I was forced to stay home with covid! There's some real appreciation for taking care of everyone else during covid. I went almost 2 weeks without pay and was dropped from my health insurance!
It can be done, friends!
5 hour day turned into a 12 hour day
I was scheduled to work 3-8 pm for a 5 hour shift. I got a call from my boss this morning saying they needed me in ASAP (I should've said no, but alas) and ending up at work at 9 am. Turns out they needed me to fill in for a different position that I was not hired for for 7 hours. This was not discussed in the morning call with my boss. All of this for subpar wage. I am scheduled off tomorrow and I was told “you're on deck for tomorrow if we need somebody” so I will be putting my phone in airplane mode tonight. Fuck this shit.
As per title, I had several shitty experiences with most of my workplaces. I was fresh out of University, and I was in a small industry where ‘everyone knows everyone’ so we were always warned to be wary of our behaviour at the workplace. Well, I was really unhappy with some of my previous jobs, but chose to just leave without saying precisely why (it’s nothing too serious, but I’m talking about being humiliated in front of others, being told I’m too sensitive when I bring up my feelings – mind you I’m in a healthcare related industry, being made to do more than my job requires etc). Basically it was always my fault even though these places also have a high turnover rate. After 4 years I decided to take a casual position and I cannot be happier as I can be my own boss without being subjected to…
I’m leaving my job tomorrow
I’m not one to quit on the spot. I’ve only ever done it once, and it wasn’t pleasant. I just can’t take the toxic work environment, which has placed my physical health, as well as my mental health off the proverbial stove entirely. Between the threats of being written up for not answering a phone when I physically couldn’t speak, as well as for standing my ground when I said I refuse to work while carrying Covid because “corporate said it has to be done this way”, and never following through with a promotion I was all but promised from the former head manager. My time, effort, and work ethic have been taken advantage of, and I can’t take it anymore. I’m now off to work for a dealership as a porter, with benefits starting after my 90 days are up, and with a more stress free work environment.
