My coworker passed away yesterday evening from a heart attack. I'm still so shocked. He was such a good person. Always smiling and happy. Laughing and super positive. He had really great energy. The type of person you'd want to be around. Everyone he met felt the same way. It just sucks you know. After a while these people turn into more than coworkers. Like true friends. Spending years seeing them every week and countless hours. I'm not the type to get emotional but dang we lost a good soul. On the outside I don't really show emotion but in my thoughts I can't believe it. I didn't even get to say goodbye. He worked at this company for over 25 plus years. Literally older than I've been alive. He was only in his mid 50s. He never even got to retire. Never got to enjoy life after work. Sucks…
Just insane…
Antiwork Denver variety show?
Anybody interested in participating or attending an in-person anti capitalist variety show on Denver at Mutiny Cafe in May?
I feel I am so good at my job that it looks like I do nothing at all. I get everything done and smoothly as management. So if I don’t do something or slack at all I get called out for it. Am I delusional?
Protestant/Calvinist Work Ethic
Here’s a fun social experiment: Gather/create some archaic (and obviously problematic) Protestant/Calvinist Work Ethic quotes that are disguised as inspirational (layered over those scenic backdrops, mountains, picturesque views, etc.)? I think they would be a funny and eye opening to spread them around and see how many neo-libs/billionaire worshipers would gleefully accept these problematic doctrines at face value.
Teachers should have a national strike
Their pay is garbage (my wife has a master’s degree and makes less than I do with an Associate’s) Their safety is in question on a daily basis, benefits suck, the parents have no respect and raise children with no respect so they deal with that double whammy of bullshit daily. They’re constantly being micromanaged among a thousand other things. There is absolutely NO REASON to be a teacher in the US right now.
