I’m shocked! I was doing my annual training and it popped up and said that anyone under the age of 20 can be paid as low as $4.50 within the first 90 days of employment but it must be raised to minimum wage after 90 days. How is this legal? I’m in TN, btw. I’ve been with the company six years and I make a halfway decent salary but this was just in my training and I have NEVER heard of this. I’m sick of this. We truly are in the bad place.
Just want to vent a bit (on mobile sorry for typos). I've had increasing issues with my manager and non profit that I've worked at for the past 8 years (that is a story for a talk, too much to type out). The latest faux pas is my 2 month baby still isn't on my insurance plan. They can only be added through my employer. It took about a month to get baby's birth certificate, and I filled out a qualifying life event form to add them and then sent in the birth certificate once I got it. Fast forward a month of me contacting hr multiple times a week asking if everything is good and getting no response. My babies next appointment is in 2 days, and if they are not on my insurance I can either reschedule and delay the care of my newborn or pay $1200. Fun…
Yes. Always.

Application why we have to do multiple?
Why why whyyyyy do companies have use fill out an application online have our resume attached and then when we get to our interview we ha e to fill it out again and give them a printed resume? Multiple jobs have been doing this in my area and it's getting way too excessive. Someone explain to me why they need the same information 2 or 3 times?
Suffer heart and mobility related issues which I've been seeing a cardiologist for. Was instructed meet with an HR chief to discuss request and later told to cross out my request for a health accomodation on grounds that, “they couldn't understand the need for it”…. Not sure if laws exist to protect … or if should withdraw /leave this position completely?
So I just had the worst job interview ever and it reminded me of this sub. I was trying to get a job as a Medical Assistant for my gap year before I go back to school. MA programs are usually $2000-1500 and last a couple of weeks, but a lot of places just train their own (which is what I wanted since I can’t afford to pay 2k just to be able to work). So I had just job interview. They were paying $13 (I’m in michigan btw) for the duration of the training while I work full time with the potential of a raise after they are done training me. While the pay wasn’t the best I was still okay with the idea. Then the interviewer dropped the bomb: if I missed 1 day of work during or after training, I had to pay them 40 THOUSAND DOLLARS.…
