Wtf is wrong with Walmart
Hey everyone [Texas] I'll likely be fired in a couple of weeks. I've been out with a stroke since Feb 27th and my doctor wrote me to return mid-April… I haven't been herr long enough to qualify for FMLA or anything, so HR made sure I knew I was unprotected. With Texas being an at-will state, I know my hands are somewhat tied, but I want to at least keep my options open as far as unemployment goes. Should I refuse to sign any termination papers they give me? I don't want to accidentally sign away a right to anything or sign saying I agree to it when I don't. Am I able to take the papers with me and look them over? I've never been fired before, only quit. Thanks all!
Being replaced in my position
I was approached with the idea of giving up my position to someone much less qualified because she’s “tired of 2nd shift”. I replied with No of course and it wasn’t mentioned again. Now it’s been close to a month and I learned that she’s been telling people that today (Friday) will be her last night on 2nd shift and that she starts my position on Monday. I haven’t been notified of any of these changes. No supervisor or manager has even discussed the topic with me any more. Just rumors and a person who has been told that she starts what is my job on Monday morning. Any ideas on what I should do? I perform well and haven’t had any issues.

Let this sink in.
I worked a lot of warehouse jobs and I've been cool with a lot of people on a personal level so from my own experience I gathered a lot of info on how my coworkers are paid. It is extremely common for people to work at a job for years and “earn” a 25 cents – 1 dollar annual raise only for a new guy to show up and either get paid exactly what they now make or worse, a dollar extra regardless of how important the veterans roles are. Life is different when you put yourself in someone else's boots, that's beyond soul crushing.
Employer told me I cannot resign
Fyi: I am in UK. I have been at this company approaching five months, on a 2-year fixed term contract. My contract only mentions that a notice period of 3 months comes into effect once I have completed this fixed term. There is no mention of a notice period if an employee wishes to terminate the fixed term early. Anyway, I was planning on staying in this job for at least a year but I became very unhappy and stressed. So, I started looking for a new job. I got an offer on Thursday, which I accepted! Today, I did the 'decent' thing of giving my manager the heads up that I am going to be handing in my 4-weeks notice (even though I am not contractually obliged to). They then proceeded to tell me that I have no right to terminate the fixed term early, that I cannot unilaterally…
She immediately went and told my boss that I am unhappy working here and that I am looking for work elsewhere which in turn made my boss come at me harshly and basically tell me that she no longer sees my value in the organization.
