Is my screen being monitored or only my browser history? My personal Google account is linked to my Chrome browser on my work computer, so all of my personal history is linked. It’s been this way for almost a year now. I don’t really have anything to hide. I just want to know how careful I should be using my work PC for other things like YouTube and other random websites. I’ve been wanting to use ChatGPT to help with work too, it’s just hard to do it off my phone and then have to retype everything.
“Guys it’s not us, pinky promise!”
I have a nightmare of a boss, who is so incredibly incompetent that it's apparent they don't understand not only what they are doing, but the data that they're responsible for managing. They've asked incredibly elementary questions that show that they literally don't understand the absolute basics of working with data. I am currently trying to leave the team by joining another team within the company, and our director and VP wanted to ask why I wanted to leave the team because they know about me, they know I'm a really great resource that knows a lot. So it's like they're trying to get me to explain the pain points of our team, and to explain How terrible of a manager This person is…. But I have to suppress my desire to be self-righteous and do the right thing by explaining how incompetent they are because that will make me…
work took away 2 of our breaks
Oh boy this has been the most fun and frustrating time I've ever worked at a job. So some context. I work in a steel forge, we heat up steel bars then beat them into a mold with a 10t hammer. As you can imagine, it gets super hot and exhausting to pick up 10-30lbs ever couple of seconds for 20 minutes at a time. So 2 months ago they said they were reducing our breaks from 4 to 2, not including lunch. Day shift raised a stink, night shift raised a stink and my shift weekend shift raised a stink. Well we thought we were actually able to push back. Kept hearing supervisors say they are pushing back the new break schedule a couple weeks. Today was the day it hit (our shift). And let me tell you I HATE IT, but I fucking love the fallout. Out of…
I like my job cause it’s what I want to do career wise and I enjoy it as much you can really enjoy most jobs (IT support office job) and my coworkers are great. That being said the pay is horrible. When first hired I was putting in so much effort as you’d expect and just enjoying it. Then I got lazier/more comfortable at the job and lately have been burnt out so my effort and actual working hours reduced. Today was pay day and I got one of my smallest checks (pay period was shorter) and realized that it just isn’t right. So now I’m going to purposefully work less to aide in the burnout but also because I’m not valued. If before I go to a different company they decide to bump me up a lot I’ll work more but until then….
Deleted all the docs on the shared drive
I worked as an assistant manager for a telemarketing company for six years. Over that time, I created all the training documents for new hires that amounted to all of the policies, procedures, and pitches we used to sell the product (subscription seats to a performance venue). Two managers came and went, both of which I got along with very well. They trusted me because I worked hard, was self-motivated, detailed oriented, and drove sales which meant more money in their pockets. Ultimately, the company offered me the manager position, but I decided to go back to grad school to pursue a new career. Enter douchebag manager #3. If not for me declining the position, he would have been stuck with the tiny campaign of an obscure venue, but instead he got one of the largest accounts in the company’s portfolio. And, he got me. He decided to hire another…
I worked for this place where staff wanted to replace an outdated piece of specialized software. Doing so wouldn't be cheap or easy — at least hundreds of thousands of dollars and probably a year or two to go through the purchase process and then implementation… So kind of a big deal. In the entire organization, I was the only person who's job was specifically and completely related to that software. It was literally in my job title. So the staff calls a big meeting to discuss the idea of replacing this software. There were 25 or 30 people in the room. Supervisors, managers, directors. And more folk had phoned in to the meeting, up to and including the Chief Operating Officer. This was a project that would have very high visibility… During the course of the meeting, the COO asked me, by name, for my opinion. Which I gave.…
