I work retail and I am conflicted regarding the surveys that everywhere bugs customers to do. I know most places, anything less than a five-star/perfect rating dings the store. Many places, employees and management get bonuses based off these surveys. Beyond that, employees often get dinged for not getting enough people to take the survey. Combine with the fact that, often, the people taking the survey are just pissed off at the store and the people who are happy/meh about the store don't waste their time, it can be difficult to pull the survey average up. And, to top it all off – upper management looks at the metrics of good surveys to say “Oh, everything at this location is great! Keep it up!” and bad surveys as “Gee, these employees are fucking everything up. Fire them all.” rather than actually going to the locations and seeing what the root…
Before the increase to $12.15 the same executive order signed by President Obama required that the minimum be over $11. I’ve been at $10 for a year and there’s no sign of that changing. I work for a large Professional Testing Company that has contracts with the Federal Government. I’m the only employee at my local center and I prepare testing materials, ensure exam security, proctor exams, and do general administrative work. Over a quarter of the exams are Federally regulated and the company website boasts about the number of Federal contracts they’ve acquired. I may be missing something so let me know if you can explain it. If it is true then I’d love any advice about how to use the information. Here’s some of what I’ve been reading. In September 2022, the Department of Labor published a notice in the Federal Register announcing that, beginning January 1, 2023,…
I like making assholes uncomfortable
People expect you to kiss your ass, so I always turn the conversation in a way that makes them feel awkward. I work in a pharmacy. —— Some guy came in and was angry that his doctor didn’t send his RX over, and SPIT to me “I think it’s time for ME to get a new pharmacy!” And I’m sure he wanted me to be like, “oh no, we’ll figure this out blah blah blah” I decided to tell him about each of the local pharmacies: insurances , phone numbers, and locations. I could tell he wanted me to shut up and carry on with the transaction, but I’m a bitch who likes to watch people squirm so I kept going. I mentioned Walgreens in another town and he said “Now I wish THAT was here” and I replied “me too! I love Walgreens!” He got so uncomfortable with my…
Idk if im making this into a bigger deal. Tomorrow is my birthday and today i was sent to a client office (no urgent work) and while the clients we’re celebrating (literally cutting a cake behind me and singing), my own colleagues were having snacks and other celebrations at the office. I feel worthless as a team member and a human being. It’s not nice being ignored a day before your birthday!! Im not big on birthdays but idk i cant help but feel like this. I didnt even take any leave for my birthday. Am I overreacting? I dont even care about the food but just the experience and not feeling left out.
Artificial negligence
I started a new job at a resturant at the end of January and they randomly left me off the schedule this week. Anyways I sent the manager 2 messages and then was swiftly removed off the app. This was done without any warning or notice. I did not recieve any notice that I was being let go. I sent an email to the owner but have yet to recieve a response. They still owe me money and have virtually blocked me from contacting them. What should I do.
How many weird terms can they come up with?
