The sentence “You can always change your job” means nothing when all jobs are in the service industry. It's really frustrating that people who don't want to work with people don't have any options but take soul crushing customer service jobs. The production industry has lots of jobs that aren't dangerous or too physically demanding, like sewing clothes, assembling electrical devices, making toys etc, but you can no longer find such jobs in the first world, and those who do work these jobs in the third world, work in terrible conditions. There are so many things I would love to do, but my country has no such jobs to give me, It's so frustrating.
Title but I’ll expand. Work is shutting down for 2 weeks in July for maintenance and again in December for Christmas, which means of our 28 days, 8 are used for bank holidays, 5 are used for Christmas/new years and 10 are used for July leaving us with 5 holidays we can decide when to use. Almost all of us are upset at the July 2 weeks since we have no say and it’s a long period of downtime in which we shouldn’t have to use our holidays for. Is there no way to get out of that 2 weeks? The Christmas holidays are fine, I’ve not heard anyone complain about that since it’s Christmas and most go home for that period anyway and those who don’t wanted to but never had the holidays.
Hello everyone! I recently had to put my two weeks in at my job due to hostile work environment. After telling my boss I would be putting my two weeks in, he cut me off and told me to leave immediately and that my last day would be the day prior. He has continuously berated me in front of my colleagues, has taken away my commissions without taking away anyone else's because he “couldn't afford it (I worked with all men at the time),” says he is “tired of working with women,” say's he doesn't like how I come right at 9AM and leave right at 5PM (those were my hours), The list goes on. When I got my headshots taken for the job, a few weeks later he was looking at my professional photos and said I looked “hot and sexy.” He has also refused to pay my last…
Boss fired coworker at their desk
My workplace (office environment and outwardly very professional) is super toxic. A lot of bullying, favouritism, and manipulation. One instance of (almost) physically assault and the assailant is still employed. Two instances of giving coworkers access to their coworkers email (no supervisory relationship just colleagues). Yesterday, my coworker, who was a victim of blatant bullying and harassment, was let go. My boss has an office and didn’t bother to bring them in. My boss fired this person at their desk with other people around who can clearly hear what was said. Weirdly after it happened, my boss was really giddy and happy. Completely devoid of empathy and humanity. Honestly I think the main reason my coworker was let go was because they reported the harassment. A lot of people seem to think that doesn’t happen anymore but almost every person I know who reported harassment has been let go within…
Just as the title says. I’m more upset that they had me shadow someone else, obviously exciting me and making me feel as if I had my foot in the door and I wasn’t even given a reason as to why I didn’t get the job. Should I say something? I’m not trying to leave the company yet.
Hey all, I wanna hear what you don't want in a boss. Anything goes! Whatever you need to get off your chest! I try to get it right with my team every day, but I know Im not perfect. I've made individual development plans with my team that tracks their short/mid/long term goals I have optional leadership development talks monthly, to teach my team what I've learned as a leader of 12 years in my field We have quarterly academic days where we take the entire 2nd half of the day off to teach each other relevant skills we have in our industry All I ask is to let me know if you'll be out, and at least a month notice if you have planned PTO lasting a week or more (really that's more for their team to plan to pick up their load) I give the team opportunities to…
Might not get my paid sick leave
So I was feeling like a cold was coming a few days before my next shift so I waited to see if it would get worse and because I am a baker my shift starts at 4am so I have to wake up at like 2:30 because I bike all year round. So the day before I called in sick and all that and it’s payday tomorrow so I should have gotten my paystub emailed yesterday or today at the latest I have seen was 10am. I check and I don’t have a paystub and now I am thinking about what I am going to do because I live paycheque to paycheque I don’t have food enough for today I have half a loaf of bread and peanut butter and jam I will starve if I don’t get paid. Like who would I go to if my manager just changed…
It's my first week and so far: -it's easily the most physically demanding and honestly painful job I've ever worked. And I've worked in all kinds of jobs, food delivery, farm work, landscaping, bussing, even set-up. So I'm not exactly Simone Biles or Xena, but I'm not a stranger to hard work. -although the handbook says employees should take breaks, they schedule you so that you are almost always driving or working. Whoopsie! My co workers say this is normal and just don't eat usually. my interviewer told me I'd be working in cities no more then 40 minutes away but they have scheduled me to work over an hour away every day I've worked. My day is up to 3/4 hours of driving a day. ;_; (Even more then when I did food delivery) -the pay advertised is only for working hours, driving hours doesn't count! They can only…
