Hey all. I'm sorry if this isn't the right sub, but I'm not sure where else to post. Long story short I just got let go today at a receiving job ( in a decently sized manufacturing company (in toronto, canada). The whole time I thought the managers was “for the people” and people who were working there for 5+ years were telling me how great it was to work there. The job had a LOT of responsibilities, rather than just receiving stock. I did dispatching, shipping, coordinating with vendors, a little bit of purchasing, and forklift moving. All the while getting paid the same amount even though on the contract it said the rate will be “reviewed after 6 months” I made some mistakes here and there on the job, but mostly it was just verbal reminders. My boss only spoke to me for one of them which I…

Annoyed by coworkers – sanity check
Just wanted to get a sanity check and see if I am being reasonable for not wanting to spend time with my coworkers. The thing is, I find them the most self-obsessed, needy, insecure, and whiny group of people that I have ever worked with. They are only able to talk about themselves and can’t listen to anyone for more than two minutes. Many of them also constantly over share and complain about their spouses, kids, finances, and even their job duties. I feel like a good portion of them goes to the office so they can avoid their families. To add, they keep asking me inappropriate questions about my personal life and they seem to love gossiping about others. Anytime I would try to change the topic to something more substantial someone would change it back to gossip, restaurants, travel destinations, and whining. Anyway, I’m officially over it because…
This cant possibly be legal, right? They essentially said she has been gone for too long(2.5weeks) and she has another approximately 2 in her program. Certainly a blow to her mental health on top of everything she has been dealing with. Edit: in United States
What are the odds this gets passed?
The president's budget calls on Congress to provide up to 12 weeks of leave for eligible workers to bond with a new child, care for a sick loved one or heal from illness. It also calls on Congress to force employers to provide seven protected sick days each year to every worker. The paid leave program would be administered by the Social Security Administration, the budget says. I know some big corps have this already but can someone elaborate how many people this would cover?
Keeping them distracted
20 y’o here. My last day of work is in 2 days, and will be a 7 hour shift. I work basically at a grocery store with a warehouse in the back which we (employees often go to to get items to stock). It will be me and another guy working, the people who often supervise the floor and say what to do won’t work that day. So I have a lot more freedom and know I won’t be watched every 10 minutes. I want it to be lowkey an easy chill day, so I thought about staying in the bathroom that’s in the back of the store (employees only)with, for the most part no one ever there for maybe an hour (I’ll probably get called to do a carry out on my radio after like 30 minutes though). But I can just do it and go back. But I’m…
Summer is coming up in 3 months, And if I'm being completely honest my living situation is poor. My parents do not give me money for any food while I'm out, no money to go to pools or beaches or waterparks or anything like that, and most of all I have a girlfriend who has to consistently pay for me with school events or food or etc because of how poor I am. This is a pretty dissatisfying situation but I do not have the time to work a summer job as I am still only 16, So I was just wondering what are some good ways to make money other than a 9-5. I don't want it to be “easy money” or something as that doesn't exist, some sort of online work or I'll take any ideas at all. Any suggestions would be appreciated and I do apologize if…
